A sequence involving two Russian agents meeting covertly in a bar is underscored by Jack Shaindlin's song "I'm Tickled Pink" - the lyrics of which appear to add a comic overtone to the Communist-busting theme of the film. The exact same recording of the song is used in the popular video game "Fallout 3".

Motion Picture Comics did a comic book adaptation of the film that sold for 10 cents each at the time. A PDF copy is included as a Bonus Feature on the Turner Entertainment DVD of the film.

The original captions on the existing behind-the-scenes photos from the film all mention the fact that it was made with the co-operation of the FBI.

Director, actor and writer George Roy Hill plays a role in the film, the first only two he did.
