Vijay Anthony's Kolaigaran joins the list of the thrillers in Tamil and let's see how it actually worked. Unlike the previous thrillers released in Tamil, Kolaigaran seems to have a strong plot and a screenplay that makes us sit till the end. There's a suspense that is perfectly hidden in the film. It's unpredictable and a perfect mind game. It's a kind of cat and mouse game where Arjun plays the sincere police officer and Vijay Anthony plays the strange man who surprises us with his flashback. Both actors had made a significant impact on the film. They had a strong scope to perform and as well to underplay. Speaking about Vijay Anthony, we see him with the similar shades that he had in Naan (2012). He has a mystery that he hides in himself. He is trying to deviate the police department by pulling of brilliant psychological strategies. Arjun who has done countless police roles in his career plays as an intelligent cop who uses his brain more than his fist. This is a film that doesn't create any unnecessary mass scenes for the leads and just goes with the flow. Kolaigaran differs from the usual commercial format and stands as a unique thriller. The confusion that the director creates throughout the film seems to be an intelligent way to keep the suspense rolling on. Simon K.King's killer background score will keep you hooked which is a must for a thriller film. He adds some intensity that even hides the overall flaws in this film. The flaws don't seem the cause any problem with the pace and the main plot. Overall, Kolaigaran is a crime thriller that has everything to keep you thrilled till the end.

A nice investigative thriller with no assumption based ending but still convincing enough just like Paapanasam. A very good selection, Vijay Antony seems to be going on a correct route. Could easily call this as an edge of the seat entertainer as well as the twist is almost inconceivable till the end which makes it a very special one to watch for those crime novels kinda audiences.
