Benidorm it is not...but did you expect it to be?

Loved the first episode tonight. If you were expecting it to be just like Benidorm then you are mistaken. Darren Litten shows us that he is not a one trick pony with Scarborough. A down to earth great British comedy. In many ways just like still open all hours, and not just because Stephanie Cole and Maggie Ollerenshaw star in it. A light hearted comedy drama we can all relate to in one way or another.

Why no second series?

Just watched this on catch-up, it took a couple of episodes to get into it, but by the end I loved it. Terrific ensemble cast. Deserved another series IMO.

Nostalgia

It may not be the cutting edge of comedy, but Scarborough makes me think of my area, just prettier. All of the characters can be identified as caricatures of northern working class pubs.

I can't express how much I think of it. If you like Still Open All Hours or Dad's Army, you'll probably like this.

Great Fun!

Scarborough

This was great show from start to finish, it was very gentle fun, and mostly the humour was irony or farce.

The music was great and the characters were very strongly written. We had a fabulous ensemble of actors who really were brilliantly cast.

I loved it and can't wait for series 2.

This is what you need in lockdown. A good laugh and easy watch. Did all 6 episodes in one night and wish there was more, brilliant acting, silly and clever humour. You can't go wrong

On Thursday, 21st November 2019 actress Maggie Ollerenshaw announced via twitter her disappointment that Scarborough has not been recommissioned for a second series. Later the same day the show's official twitter account confirmed the news. In a statement, the BBC said: "Sometimes we have to make difficult decisions to make room for new comedy on BBC One. We are very proud of Scarborough and would like to thank Derren and the team for all their hard work on the series."
