45 Revoluciones

Antena 3 has done it again. I can't believe some of the negative reviews I have read about this show. I admit I wasn't as hooked after the first episode like I was Gran Hotel or Velvet, but this show has a fantastic cast with great chemistry.

Maybe part of my fascination is my lack of knowledge of Spanish political history. I really enjoy learning about other cultures, especially in The beautiful and enthralling avenu of Spanish tv drama. Yes the 60s have been covered in multiple facets, but I think the political context in this point in time in Spain is a refreshing experience of the decade of revolution.

I consider it is a very vast series, that has the music on its centre. You see how Spain during Franco's dictatorship was, how that influenced in the concert's rooms, on the radio with the censorship or with Eurovision contest... However, the richest is the relation between Robert-Maribel-Guillermo, that creates the opportunity to progress to others stories equally interesting, with others characters developed, has Zabala, Ángeles, Fanny, Maribel's family, etc. It is curious to understand the differences between Maribel's and Robert's familiar context, or the interventions of the government, or the action of the music enterprises with Mr. Alfredo e Mr. Vidal. Everything it is related with music, and the music is the centre of this narrative that shows how to follow your dreams, to love intensely, the importance of have really true friends, and never forget the love to rock and roll!

I grew up in Southern Spain. My dialect is different however I can understand Madrid Spanish very well. It seems that the sound people speeded up the dialog. The actors are good but they speak so fast that it's hard to follow. Bad voice mixing.

Someone said in a review, why couldn't they try and be authentic? Why didn't they try and produce something like Velvet?

I was so taken with the beginning of the show...until "Robert" started singing: WTF! This music wasn't about for another 40+ years in 1962! Nothing to do with the early 1960s when the Beatles changed the music young people listened to. Why couldn't they have tried to create some original sound tracks in the style of the 60s music?

And Robert's hairstyle - again, nothing anybody would've been seen with in the early 1960s when the Beatles set the trend with their haircuts too.

I've only watched episode 1 and a bit of episode 2 but I'm going to give the rest of this series a miss. The creators must be thinking that viewers are stupid....or are they aiming at viewers in their 20s and 30s assuming they have never heard of the 1960s?

Such a disappointment!

I love this series! I heard about not reaching enough audience on television, but now people are using streaming channels like netflix to watch their favorite shows. The quality and realism of this story is way better than La casa de papel or Las Chicas del Cable.
