Small time mechanic Jagapati Babu is always fighting for the rights of the labour class and their land . Lakshmi is the district collector who wants to bull doze the land of these labourers she keeps quoting from the Sanskrit scriptures to make her point . she's very dominating and tries all kinds of tricks to throw them out of their land . . Egged on by Jagaati babu they keep fighting back. her daughter Prema comes back from her studies and falls for Jagapati Babu during one function .She likes his views and opinions . Lakshmi creates a lot of hurdles when she realises that her daughter ( with a bright future ) has fallen for a poor man without a proper job . Finally adamant Prema wins and ends up marrying him. His people welcome her with open heart and very soon she settles in and starts studying for her IAS exams . Lakshmi continues to create misunderstandings between them like getting her aborted with some poisoned milk, blaming the slum dwellers for all her problems , enticing Jagapati Babu to dance wtih Silk Smita in front of a huge crowd etc., Lakshmi even brings one fake wife to show Prema that he cheated on her . Both Jagapati and Prema try to stick to each other but splits keep occurring . In the end Prema ends up believing her mother and starts doubting Jagapati and his intentions in marrying her . Lakshmi keeps creating rifts while hiding behind a facade of a kind mother . A lot of misunderstandings later , she realises her mistake and both unite again . Lakshmi is her usual excellent self . We have been watching her for the past 5 decades without boredom . She wears heavy silks and jewellery to show her rich arrogant status . Prema is pretty and as tall as Jagapati .She has a lovely smile . She utters a few lines of English once in a while to show her education upmarket status . she wears nice chiffon sarees which hug her snug figure very well . They make a cute couple when they dance and sing around . Jagapati of course is on top as the carefree boy initially , then misunderstood husband and angry confused son in law. Veteran Y Vijaya hardly has any role to play apart from uttering a few lines and escorting Silk Smita . .Like most of his movies, this too is a total family watch.
