The book was great no doubt but this movie seems to be based on the movie. The only good thing in this movie is Aditi, otherwise you can skip this for sure and watch the original one.

I think we should stop expecting from Bollywood. Parineeti Chopra expressions were so unnecessary..

"The Girl on the Train" simply bite the dust against all my unduly expectancy. As an official adaptation of the critically acclaimed novella by Pawla Hawkins; it undeniably deserved a significantly better treatment. This is nothing but a complete waste of time.
Just to be clear, I have yet to see the Hollywood adaptation goes by the same name. Therefore I won't and mustn't draw any comparisons! However, I had read the original Novel a long time ago. But I'm afraid, I had forgotten the most of it. Thus my review will be done solely on the basis of this particular Bollywood'ish' take rather than the aboriginal best-seller which I know for a fact is a sensational read.
So without further ado, let's jump right in!
What should have been a Dark Psychological Thriller with indwelling drama; turns out to be inexplicable for all intents and purposes. From a desultory narrative to its flawed & distorted screenplay; it never settled down on a designated path of its own!
Meanwhile, it heavily suffers from abrupt tonal shifts that do happen at regular intervals! Palpable alterations in color gradation & few peculiar Cinematographic preferences in certain sequences did bother me a alot. As someone with keen eyes at those minute detailings; it was kind of a bummer.
A sheer surprise of the bunch would be the inapposite Soundscore. What an atrocious Concord that not only discommode imperative dialogues & conversations but also pops up with inconsequent tracks that didn't have anything meaningful to offer!
Amidst this whole fiasco, luckily there were some flashes of optimism. All thanks to Parineeti Chopra playing as Mira, The Protagonist. Even though everyone's portrayal including her, has room for much improvement; nevertheless I laud Parineeti's guileless efforts here. Albeit admittedly, those attempts didn't benefit in the long run.

I had high hopes for this film adaptation of the incredible novel. However this film was extremely poor!! I had to give up halfway. This is the first time I've watched a film with Parineeta Chopra, and I don't think I'll ever put myself through watching a film of hers again, her acting is atrocious, trying too hard to be dramatic and really overplaying her scenes. The rest is f the cast are extremely bland and don't do their characters any justice. What a wasted opportunity of what could've been a great telling of the story, even with a good budget and a satisfactory London backdrop this film fails throughout. I thought Hindi thrillers were getting better
This is based on a brilliant novel. This was made into a movie in Hollywood, again a well shot movie that was.
So, you have the book and a movie as your reference, then what went wrong while remaking it?
The entire plot has not only been twisted but quite messed up!!
Added, what is the need to make everything Bollywood? The songs in this movie adds to the disaster. This is a serious plot and should have been maintained that way.
The acting is quite terrible and mind-bogglingly painful to watch.
Such injustice to such a brilliant novel!!
Sad!!

This movie is a great tutorial for how to ruin a remake? I wonder how can anyone messed up when they only have to copy from original but they can't do that also.Looks like parineeti forgot acting after being idle for long time. Please go for the original movie which is also available on Netflix. This is utter garbage
Horrible acting and terrible direction makes this the Must Skip movie. Complete waste of time.

Easily the worst move I have ever seen. As if the fake head wound could be any more amateur we had to see it for most of the film. The lead actress is shockingly bad. The scene with "smash her, smash her" must be one of the oddest scenes I've ever seen. Also the plot is absurd, a clear link to potentially implicate her but she is allowed to roam around like a detective with no police following her.
I really think that this remake was absolutely unnecessary.
Of course, I can't help but admit that the creators of this movie tried to add something special and unique from themselves to the original story, but I don't really like it. That made the plot completed, which wasn't really needed at all.
But the characters are not really bad. The actors did their job well, so in this aspect of the story I saw no problems.
But in general we have a story, which can be skipped without hesitation, especially by the people who saw the original movie. So, I don't really understand why it was needed to create it.

If only if I hadn't seen the original one I think I would have liked the movie more. There was some raw content in the original movie which could be related to. In this movie the acting was good and I even likef the small Bollywood twist they added in the end. Overall , a one time watch

I'm not a fan of the 2016 version of The Girl on the Train. I had a lot of issues with that film but this version manages to be even worse than the original.
The Girl on the Train follows Mira Kapoor, a divorced lawyer struggling with alcoholism who takes the train and looks at a couple's life through the window. One day she notices something shocking leading her down a dark path.
I may dislike the 2016 film but this version makes that film look like a masterpiece. I don't even know where to start with this trainwreck of a film. First of all, I hated the structure of this film. I didn't like the structure of the 2016 either but at least it gave some depth to the characters and maintained a dark tone throughout. The narrative here is so messy. Characters are barely developed here and the changes made by Ribhu Dasgupta were totally unnecessary. The addition of new characters and subplots were poorly executed. There were so many sequences down to the smallest of details which made no sense. There is a scene where Parineeti Chopra is talking at a support group in Hindi which makes no sense as there were people from other nationalities around her so how would they understand what she's saying. Even the way phones are used looks so fake. If you're familiar with the GUI interface of WhatsApp then you'll know how fake the interface looks in the film. It requires less effort to use the real one so why waste time creating a fake one? It's details like these that really annoy me.
The actors really did not stand a chance with how bad the script is. Parineeti Chopra tries but ultimately fails. Emily Blunt brought a level of subtlety to the role which made it look realistic. Chopra ends up being too dramatic and borderline cartoonish. Aditi Rao Hydari is wasted due to the lack of development to her character and the same can be said about all the male roles. Kirti Kulhari is also underutilised. The script is filled with awfully written dialogues that take away from the seriousness and is unintentionally laughable. Like the 2016 film, this film is also very dull and has a lack of suspense which is sad considering this is meant to be a thriller.
Ribhu Dasgupta's The Girl on the Train is an absolute mess. There is so much wrong with this film that I'm actually struggling to think of any positives. It's filled with poorly developed characters, plot points that make no sense and contains no thrills. Was it necessary to remake this story in India? I don't know but all I can say is this film is a complete failure.

Netflix should take care while creating Indian content. Especially at the time of casting. They are doing very poorly. The worst thing about this film is its main heroine Parineeti Chopra. She should now understand that she should give up her acting passion, so that the time and money of people will stop wasting. Don't know why people give him films and spoil his good enough film, everything is bad in this film especially Parineeti Chopra. if the main character of the film performs poorly, then who can save the entire film, do not waste your time and do not watch this film of Parineeti Chopra at all. And another actress who played cop gave same performance as Pariniti . Why this type of people allowed to do acting . Pathetic movie .
Parineeti Chopra please stop acting it is not your cup of tea. She irritated us to the heights by making wired faces and overacting. Storyline very weak and being a psychological thriller it was not at all thriller. Poor acting , poor direction and weak storyline.
