To recreate parts of the White House that are unphotographed and off-limits to the general public, the production design team consulted with former White House professional Haley O'Connor. She relied on memory to describe the basement, Chief Usher's office, staff stairwell, and more to the team.

The show was halfway through production when Andre Braugher tragically passed. Giancarlo Esposito was brought in to replace him as A.B. The production ended up using "plates" -- background shots which are then superimposed with other elements during post-production - on some shots and reshot others.

Julian McMahon, the actor playing the role of the Australian Prime Minister, is the son of a former Australian Prime Minister Sir William McMahon. Having been previously married to Danni Minogue, he is also the ex-brother in law of Kylie Minogue who here plays a fictionalized version of herself.

On July 18, 2022, it was revealed that the series received tax credits from California Film Office worth US$13.95 million. Production of the series was suspended by the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes after four of the eight ordered episodes were filmed. The series was expected to resume production on January 2, 2024. Andre Braugher died on December 11, 2023. In February 2024, it was announced that production had resumed and Giancarlo Esposito had assumed Braugher's role.
