If dystopian, post-apocalyptic, dark-colored anime is up your street then you should really check out Ballmastrz: 9009. Developed by the animation studio, Titmouse, Inc. — which was partly responsible for Nick Kroll’s Big Mouth — and first aired on Adult Swim in 2018, the futuristic animation is the brainchild of Christy Karacas. Karacas has already worked with Adult Swim on the black comedy animation, Superjail!, and other well-received shows like Robotomy that were aired on Cartoon Network. With a special episode just released, Ballmastrz: Rubicon, we’re going to take a look at where you can catch up on seasons one and two: on HBO Max via the one and only Amazon Prime.

Ballmastrz: 9009 Plot

Ballmastrz: 9009 is a high-octane animation that takes place in a post-apocalyptic future.

Adult Swim continues its long and storied tradition of making animation that engenders shocks and giggles with Ballmastrz: Rubicon. The adult animated special, which airs at midnight on February 20, serves as a sequel to the events of Ballmasterz: 9009 season 2. You know who’s a good boy? The faithful and loyal pet that saves its master. That’s basically the premise of Warner Bros’/DC Films’ “DC League of Super-Pets” which stars Dwayne Johnson as the voice of Krypto the Super-Dog. Yes, the “Black Adam” stars is doing double-duty in the Dceu in the action-adventure feature film from director Jared Stern.

In the film, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, Pb the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

For September's late edition of G! News, we cover the latest film, TV, and gaming news, plus Christy Karacas of Ballmastrz 9009.

G! News, our Den of Geek podcast, continues with the first half of September 2018. Twice a month, the hosts pull some of the more discussable topics from the recent goings-on in movies, television, comics, and gaming to add their own commentary while directing listeners to where they can read more about the entertainment news they talk about.

In this edition of the podcast, with fall in full swing, we tackle another set of movie, TV, and gaming news items! We start off with a look at some of the most anticipated movies of 2019 (and not just the big Marvel and Disney properties). Then we explore the list of the six different actors who have played the Joker in various Batman incarnations over the years.

The 2018 Los Angeles Animation Festival has announced that this year’s honoree is artist, animator, director, president and founder of independent animation studio Titmouse, Chris Prynoski.

“With Chris’ growing international reputation and his role in raising the profile of independent animation studios in the L.A. community and elsewhere, the Los Angeles Animation Festival is thrilled to feature Chris and his work at our festival this fall, [running] Nov. 30-Dec.2,” Festival co-director John Andrews told Variety.

“We know Chris’ involvement will inspire animation filmmakers from around the world to join the fun and enter their films into this year’s competitions and maybe even plan a trip to L.A.!”

Prynoski started working as an animator for MTV in the ‘90s. There he worked on iconic shows such as “Beavis and Butthead” and “Daria,” and created the Primetime Emmy-nominated “Downtown.”

In 2000, Prynoski and wife Shannon Prynoski relocated to L.A. and started Titmouse.

Give the people what they want! Adult Swim has handed a series order to Ballmastrz 9009, a 15-minute toon that originally was piloted in 2015. It will premiere at midnight April 8, with back-to-back new episodes air on Sundays.

Created by Christy Karacas (Suerjail) and produced by Titmouse, Ballmastrz 9009 is set in the titular year when The Game has made sure there were no more wars — especially, as the trailer below notes, “those suck-ass rad wars.” It centers on Gaz Digzy (voiced by Natasha Lyonne), a washed-up superstar and notorious party gal who, after a spiral of destructive antics, is demoted to The Leptons, the worst team in The Game. Her only way back to the top is to somehow lead these pathetic misfits and “ultimate losers” to victory.

The voice cast also includes Dana Snyder, Dave Willis, Jessica Dicicco, Eric Bauza, Christopher McCulloch and Karacas. Special guests include Norman Reedus,...
