This little gem of 15 minutes absolutely scared the life out of me! Creepy, disturbing and dark. Low budget film that packs a punch! I just wish it was longer!
An old friend returns out of the blue to give Ben and Rachel a gift. A seemingly empty box with no bottom. Inside is something that wants to get out. Something that could very well have sinister intentions.
Directed by Caleb J. Phillips and running at a little over fifteen minutes, The Other Side of the Box is one of the best short films that I've seen thus far on the ALTER YouTube channel. A sense of dread is built up constantly though the majority of the film as the strange "thing" looms over the young couple. What is it? What does it want? Why was is passed on to them? Those questions may or may not get answered by the excellent conclusion but it's definitely worth the fifteen minutes to find out.
Other Side of the Box is an awesome little horror short that doesn't try to do too much and succeeds at delivering a sense of impending doom. It's proof of how you don't always need much of a budget to hit a home run.

Caleb J. Phillips totally gave audience unsettling chills as this short horror film played out. Tag & Rose had unexpected invasion from mysterious gift. Hopefully they'll expand those terrors into feature length movie someday.
It's an interesting approach of supernatural when Sean an old friend and former boyfriend of his now ex girlfriend brings a box that was meant for someone specific.
We learn Sean wanted a vengeance but got a more terrifying result of what you end up when going to great lengths for this.
I like the "don't keep your eyes off it" rule giving an awkward yet suspense feeling to the audience and characters. The acting is well performed on this type of story without under playing the situation. I would of liked to see more of that creepy suspense feeling from the man in the box instead of a brief moment.
It's a good scenario and a worthy of watching.

Very well done, genuinely creepy. I'd love to see this get a feature length but I wouldn't want it to be ruined by the Hollywood treatment like the feature length version of Lights Out .
The tone and acting are fantastic, the director gives you just enough information to make you uneasy but not enough that you truly understand the situation. Sometimes it feels lazy to not provide an explanation, that isn't the case here, the ambiguity is absolutely perfect. It's unnerving and genuinely frightening. I love the horror genre, it's really difficult to even kinda spook me, this short managed to accomplish what most full length movies can't. I was scared and I want to see more.
