Grand blue has an adult comedy. what would be a cliche in other animes mostly are not present in this one, and its not full of fan service either. to be honest it has more man service than fan service. now you see that i liked it, but is it really a 9/10? let me tell you that my cheeks hurt after every episode because they are so funny, especially the first episode was golden. i can understand why someone wouldn't like it, but if you are looking for an anime comedy, you should watch the first episode and see if you like it.
I was feeling a bit down yesterday so I decided to try out a comedy anime for the first time and alas, I feel great and happy. This is how I feel about this anime if I have to put it out in a sentence.
There's no complex story, it's all about the daily 'adventures' of a freshman Iori who's residing in his cousin's house which is also a scuba diving club. We got ourselves a diverse range of characters who got their own personalities and traits. The story holds on to its foundation as a diving comedy and explores the art of diving giving us the exploration of the ocean and things round about it. Really can't say anything about the story as it constructs itself into one.
People always recommend reading the manga saying it's more fun and got a complexity to the story, I may be wrong but I don't think the manga would make me laugh my ass off as much as the anime did because of the sheer 'Titan' expressions, the timing, and weirdness of the emotions playing in front of us. Highly recommend giving it a shot!

Literally I have been laughing my a** off every single episode. Definitely give this a try. And the best part is if you're having a bad day just watch it and your mood shall undoubtedly lighten up in no time.

Entertaining Comedy?Men who can't help but get drunk and strip? Awkward Virgin friends? Misunderstandings?
Grand Blue is one of the funniest anime I have seen in a while. In a full on comedy anime, a plot is probably one of the least important aspects. To me, a comedy anime is all about the enjoyable characters and overall entertainment. And Grand Blue has all of those.
Like most comedy anime, it operates with a very basic story- a college freshman being all excited to have a great college life. However, it doesn't go as planned when he's forced to join a "diving club", in which the members drink and strip more than dive (there still is diving I assure you). Yes, it's pretty ridiculous already, but it gets even better as the show progresses and more characters get introduced.
The characters are the life of any comedy anime. Without fun, fitting characters, a comedy anime just won't be the same. It doesn't matter to me if they seem slightly generic, as long as they show some personality and entertain. Grand Blue has a good variety of different personalities which compliment each other perfectly to create hilarious exchanges. Whether it is a dumb, over the top MC, or an otaku "ikemen", or awkward virgin friends, or men (and women) who couldn't care less about getting drunk and stripping in public, Grand Blue has a good variety to keep the entertainment going.
The voice acting is also top notch, and paired with some incredible facial expressions, all the characters are funny in their own right. Honestly, the facial expressions are some of the most hilarious ones.
There are many comedy anime out there which can have some funny episodes while the rest are a hit-and-miss. Grand Blue, however is very consistent in that regard. Honestly, comedy will always be a subjective genre. Grand Blue might not be for some, but those who enjoy a rather over-the-top comedy anime should definitely give this a shot.

It seems like every scene someone is yelling or screaming or there's a crazy face drawn on a character. It is beyond obnoxious, and gets old quick. When I watch good animes, them yelling or having weird faces means something big is going on. And this one it's 30 times an episode, so it doesn't mean anything and it's wearing thin.
I guess this appeals to some people but if you're looking for a decent anime that has some fun and storyline to it this is not it. Not to mention the weird drinking issues, the guys that always get naked... That are probably gay. I don't care if they are but it's just really weird that this is the direction this show is taking.
I can't believe anyone gave this more than say a four, no more than a five. I'm heading into episode 6 and debating whether I just going to crap can this one, and go to another one that's probably better. Wouldn't be hard to find one. Sorry to be so harsh but this just is not a good show.

I've never laughed so hard while watching an anime. Great characters and interactions and just pure comedic gold. Best part for me was the tennis match.
Btw. this anime still actually contains some useful information regarding diving (for anyone interested in this topic).

Amazing!
Best comedy ever.
It has the best jokes, an awesome story, and it'll be one of the best anime-watching experiences you'll ever have.
I seriously can't wait for the next season to come out!
I truly hope the next season comes out as soon as possible, because after such an incredible ride full of laughter, an epic story, and one of the best anime experiences I've ever had, I'm dying to see where the story goes next.
This anime is an absolute gem. From start to finish, it keeps you hooked with its perfect blend of hilarious humor, an engaging and thrilling story, and unforgettable characters. The comedy feels natural and genuinely funny, without ever feeling forced, and the story is much deeper and more exciting than you'd expect at first glance.
What really stands out is how it balances its tones-it makes you laugh out loud one moment and sit on the edge of your seat the next, invested in the plot and the characters' fates. The pacing is great, the animation is beautiful, and the emotional moments hit hard when they need to.
Watching this was honestly one of the best anime experiences I've ever had, and I can't wait to see where the story goes next. Here's hoping the next season comes out soon, because this show deserves all the love it gets!
Rating: 10/10 - A must-watch for any anime fan.

I got into a discussion about exaggerated female body parts in anime with a friend a few days ago and he told me I'd either love this anime or hate it. Truth be told, I've seen worse.
This anime is mostly about partying, pranking people and diving. The constant obsession with alcohol isn't really that funny and the bickering between Kohei and Iori is pointless and annoying most times. Character development is non-existent and the plot is just a random sequence of events with no particular goal in mind.
It feels as if it has been written by immature adults for immature adults, so no recommendation from me, really.

Without a doubt the best and simplest comedy anime I have seen. Genuinely funny in almost every scenario presented to the characters. Only wish there was more...

This for me is still the best comedy anime I have ever watched. The fact that it takes place in college makes it somewhat stand out from the usual high school plot. The comedy is a little "dirty" and each episode is filled with some sort of crazy comedy twist. The facial expressions alongside the joke delivery and the characters themselves just combine beautifully. On top of that, the lifestyle is probably relatable to people who have a somewhat crazy college lifestyle. I am only giving this a 9/10 because I feel like towards the end of the series, it didn't have as much comedy as it had consistently had throughout the beginning. This anime is still GOLD in my opinion, and if you are a huge fan of the comedy genre like me, this will no doubt be up there somewhere on the top of your list. This is what I would describe as a MUST WATCH anime series.

But it's the best comedy anime I've seen. It's hilarious in every episode. You are not bothered in the least by the lack of diving in this one. It's all about various and hilarious events this anime brings.

So firstly, the main character Iori joins the scuba diving club as a freshman in the university. Yes, the anime indeed is about his diving experience but then again, just that wouldn't be enough. A random guy like me may not find it appealing if there were serious lessons or drama all the time. And probably that's the reason why too much of surreal humour is inserted in this series. Since the theme is related to diving, the mangaka seems to have taken the opportunity to showcase the exaggerated version of Japanese people's comfort while being naked. It gets to the point that the characters comically start feeling less comfortable when they are rather well dressed.
For the first few episodes, I would burst out laughing whenever there was any misunderstanding among the characters. Especially the comedy scenes that involved Chisa were so damn funny. Quite predictably, the series gets to the point that the humor starts feeling repetitive and we see an overdose in the fan service. I continued to enjoy this show and never felt bored but somewhere in between it felt like a guilty pleasure.
I got the feeling that yaoi fans may really enjoy this show since there are lots of such references. I myself do ship Iori and Kohei. AOT fans too should be recommended to watch this show as almost in each episode the characters would make titan faces whenever they are angry or serious.

Grand Blue had a lot of potential with its unique premise-diving mixed with comedy-but it missed the mark for me. The humor relies heavily on repetitive gags like over-the-top yelling, nudity, and drunken antics, which got old after a couple of episodes. While some moments were mildly amusing, most of the jokes felt forced, leaving my face blank rather than laughing.
The main character, Iori, spends most of the time being bullied or dragged into ridiculous situations, which becomes frustrating instead of funny. The show teases a romantic subplot with Chisa, but it goes absolutely nowhere, adding to the overall disappointment.
As for the diving theme? It's barely there. The few underwater scenes are beautiful but feel out of place in a show dominated by frat-boy humor.
If you enjoy loud, chaotic comedy, this might be for you, but for me, it was a mediocre experience. 5/10-fun in parts but forgettable overall.

Grand Blue is honestly one of the worst shows I've ever had the misfortune of watching-I'd genuinely rather sit and watch flies eat poop for hours than suffer through another episode of that nonsense. It tries way too hard to be funny and just ends up being a chaotic mess with zero charm. If you want to see something actually worth your time, go watch Singham and Singham Returns. Now those are masterpieces-absolute bangers of comedic action that had me hyped, laughing, and hooked from start to finish. No joke, they're the best comedic action movies I've ever seen-legendary stuff. So please if you haven't yet- you need to.
