Feng zhong you duo yu zuo de yun

Astonishing visual and audio effects achieved by seductive editing, impressive score, awesome camerawork, outstanding performance and a story where everyone in it was tangled and thrown into the waves and flames of the rapid changing environment. The narrative is not linear nor circular, very special but clear if you can understand some cultural subtleties. For example, the accent used by people from the three different cities, the switch from Mandarin to Cantonese when addressing to the residents in the to-be-demolished building complex. An honest record of the past 30 years without any makeup or vilifying.

The camera is shaky and obscure. The editing is a mess and the narrative is chaotic. The story lacks any sense of credibility. The result is just a pretentious and failed mystery film. Jing Boran's performance is a joke, and he does not fit into his role at all. Ma Sichun is OK. In a word, the film is style over substance.

Not in China, not going through those things, you never know what the movie expresses.

It's not a typical chasing murder movie. Instead the director puts so much efforts to tell a meticulous story which means a lot, not just some complicated relationships but also how a country goes through the past 30 years. At the end of the movie, it flashbacks two women's destiny with Wong Kit's song 'love and sadness' that is so distressing !

Overall, the visual art is nice but the thing i can't bear with is the handheld shots is too dizzy.

Cinematography wise it was awful though, there was a point where 2 people were having a conversation outside, and when they cut to the other person it was darker outside... and there was another point where there was continuoty errors. Or maybe the cinematography part was on purpose? There were parts where it was so dark that you couldnt see the characters faces for minutes. And some cute were weird sometimes, looked like mistakes.

Sound design was crazy good sometimes, but sometimes unnecessary and unrealistic

But the story really saved the film.

Its a movie you should watch, ive never watched a chinese movie btw, but they seem cool
