What's Kurylenko and Oldman doing in such a poorly scripted and directed movie?
Watch out for:
1. Writers' limited vocabulary is confined to the F word and screaming fits
2. A bunch of henchmen strolling around in circles in a parking structure
3. The heroine, ex-Bond girl is the female version of John McClane.
4. You'll be eager to walk out of the cinema midway through the movie and certainly don't care if the good guys slice or die.
Don't waste your time and money on this movie.

Bad acting, bad dialogue, stupid action scenes.
It's definitely 4 of 10.
A lot of irrelevant drama.

I think people are being a little hard on this derivative, but quite entertaining action flick. There's nothing particularly original about it, but I didn't mind a couple of different approaches taken.
We don't have Frank the Transporter in his fancy black car, but we do get the female Courier on her flash motor bike, essentially with the same background and doing the same sort of thing on 2 wheels, instead of 4. She is taken advantage of (which she naturally doesn't like) and now must find a way to survive and lead her unintended target/victim to an escape from a large, locked, hotel car park, whilst pursued by numerous, well - armed villains.
Olga Kurylenko is serviceable as the unnamed titular courier and the onscreen relationship she develops with Amit Shah who plays the witness to a murder, Nick Murch, evolves from initially annoying, to quite entertaining by the end of the film. I have to admit Gary Oldman does overact like I've never seen him overact before, in the role of a notorious crime lord who is under house arrest in New York, who seeks the elimination of Murch in London.
This is clearly not a big budget film, but unlike others on this forum, I thought the production standards were quite reasonable. The set action pieces were pretty good (without being superlative) and at least they were reasonably lit and not overly dependent on close-ups and super - quick editing. Having much of the story take place in just 2 venues, does help I suppose, when you're on a tight budget.
I did appreciate the fact that this movie features a heroine rather than a hero, a factor I feel tends to enrage many of the fanboys of this type of genre. I also liked the fact that she had to be quite inventive in her defensive strategies, as the screenplay gave reasons she frequently couldn't utilise captured automatic weapons. And like the John McClane Diehard character, it was also more realistic, to see her character, get knocked around quite a bit, by the film's conclusion, which does feature a quite unnecessary final twist.
The other obvious plot hole which needs to be overlooked by prospective viewers is that this is a large car park with lots of cars and yet, no one else ever seems to want to get their vehicle, nor contact hotel management or the police, as to why their cars are inaccessible and why an evident extended gunfight is occurring.
Nevertheless, I really don't think action film aficionados should be put off engaging with this film by the current IMDB rating of 4.8. The Courier is a better film than that score would indicate.

Terrible editing, Horrible soundtrack, cardboard characters. The whole movie feels like we are following a film crew around while the actors rehearse their lines. Gary Oldman will apparently take any job he can get. He does wear an eye-patch though...good call by the wardrobe department; they really earned their keep.

I have no idea how they persuaded Olga Kurylenko and Gary Oldman to star in such a waste of time.
Interminable motorcycle shots with wrong engine sounds, like someone who's never heard a motorcycle in their life was responsible for the sound effects.
Fighting scenes are from the 80's movies and there's a bunch of scenes with (really useless and misplaced) gore.
Boring all the way to Mars, don't waste your life watching it.
I gave it a two instead of a one because of Kurylenko and Oldman, although i can't imagine why they did it.

The low rating is completely off, in my opinion. Some trash productions get praise by fake reviews and sometimes also by real ones, but something like The Courier gets totally smashed? Yeah, suuure...
In terms of action, and hence entertaining, it delivers. The film uses a limited setting and a limited timeframe for its story, not many nonsense distractions, it's rather straight to the point. That's what I personally like in action thrillers.
Kurylenko did a good job, Oldman falls short, Shah is OK, Moseley pretty bad. Aim the hand-to-hand fighting parts for realism or for certain Hong Hong ingenuity? Nope. Do villains make stupid mistakes and sometimes also the heroine? Happens, quite typical for the genre, so who cares, it's fiction and not the reinvention of action cinema.
Of course, the story is simple, characters not complex and dialogues rather basic, but who watches a film like this for that? What do some people expect here, Shakespeare?
You want something simple that won't win Oscars, just to sit back and relax, then you could do a lot worse.
Normally I would give it a very solid 6, but now a 7 it is.
PS: One here compared it to Salt in terms of how it's done right... What on earth? Salt is way more unrealistic in every way, had a much, much higher budget and is still just the inferior flick, but that's my opinion. Anna was recommended instead by another one, which wasn't bad, but also not as entertaining and for sure a lot less believable, just like Salt. Those 2 films were more 'complex', pretentious and stupid, with more money put in and those idiotic spy-'twists' of which I'm sick of. Another one said the soundtrack was bad... Huh? Well, I found it to be atmospheric and fitting. I better don't want to know what that person considers a good OST then.

Painful to watch, cardboard acting, stupid story, cant believe Oldman and Kurylenko took part in this.
Not sure why some people rate this at below 5, they clearly weren't watching this particular movie! Tbh it started off cheesy, but gradually got better. It's well worth the watch, if it's action you're after!

What a waste of time, energy & oxygen this film was. You want a Eastern Block Assassin Chick Flick - watch ANNA..
The Courier is a typical 80s action with over the top fights and the usual amount of violence. The film itself is fun and paced well. Olga Kurylenko has excellent presence and her ability to portray the role is without a doubt what makes the film entertaining. Amit Shah is little more then a prop during the majority of the film. But the film works by presenting an escape and hunt scenario. A great film if you suspend belief and are looking for a good action.
Unfortunately, this tries very hard (but fails) to be a TRANSPORTER. Don't get me wrong.I love Olga Kurlyenko and Gary Oldman but the storyline is paperthin. Is it me but does anybody notice that almost ALL movies tend to have at least ONE English character. In this movie, the witness' job is merely to being as obnoxious as possible. Expletives abound but after a while it does get to be kind of tedious. I can only recall one scene - obviously created for the comedic effect but it just fell flat (pardon the pun). There is absolutely no chemistry between Olga and the witness and poor Gary Oldman. What dragged him to do this movie? He is a much-talented actor. The storyline - just because ONE witness saw him kill another baddie - his whole cartel comes crumbling down? Olga and Gary's talents wasted.

Kurylenko and Shah held the film together, from all the no talent European contract killers in the film. Their chemistry was spot on. But what's the deal with Oldman lately? He's becoming the next Nick Cage by taking all these shoddy roles. Mulroney's role came alive in the very last scene....OK, but again, shoddy role. Anyway, good action, but story very meh. Good for a one time watch.

The Courier stars Olga Kurylenko as a mysterious and unstoppable ex-military operative who has to protect the star witness who is due to testify against Gary Oldman's New York crime lord.
It isn't the deepest story and it's not a tour de force like There Will Be Blood but it isn't trying to be. It aims to be an entertaining action movie with a cool and sexy lead and it's pulls that off with style. Pretty much the whole movie takes place in a multi-story car park and although it's confined to a single location it's never dull and the action is well done and surprisingly brutal and gory. It has it's silly moments and i found Amit Shah's character to be really annoying but is it a bad movie? Hell no, i've seen more well known movies with ten times the budget of this which are absolutely terrible. It's turn your brain off balls to the wall bloody action and since when was that a bad thing?
If you're a fan of action movies especially from the glory days before everyone was so easily offended then check it out, it's a fun time.

Painful to watch. Ridiculous story, how the hell they can't kill the 2 rabbits in such a small hole i.e. 3 or 4 level parking garage. Most of the men were huge, lots of guns and had a high tech assassin, still can't kill the rabbits. OMG, she is better than Rambo. If time is of the essence, why waste so much time talking and taunting. Furthermore, some of the dialogue and non violent scenes e.g. Oldman listening to music was agonizing to watch. Cant believe it Oldman Oscar winner involved in this.
As this action film opens we see a woman being beaten but refusing to give her tormentor the information he demands. The action then goes back to some time before. Businessman Ezekiel Mannings is arrested in New York while in London Nick Murch, the one witness who can put him away, is being taken to a safe location, from where he is due to testify. A courier, the woman from the opening scene, is to deliver a package to the location. Here she finds herself in a deadly situation. She manages to get out with Nick but their problems are far from over; Mannings has a team of men who have been hired to make sure Nick doesn't live to testify... he and the courier will be lucky if they survive the night.
This film feels the sort of thing that would have gone straight to video in the nineties. The plot is pretty thin but serves to justify some enjoyable action. Even if you enjoy action films you'll need to suspend your disbelief a lot as our courier routinely defeats much larger than herself and at one point merely limps a bit after being hit by a large calibre bullet that should have blown her leg off! The location, mostly in a multi-storey carpark speaks of the films obviously low budget. Olga Kurylenko and Amit Shah are solid enough as The Courier and Nick but Gary Oldman is far from his usually impressive best as Mannings. The rest of the cast are okay; the sort one expects as heavies in an action film. Overall this is far from a must see but it is fun enough if you want to sit back and put your brain in neutral.

As ouch says: painful. Pity Oldmans, Kurylenkos and Shas talent wasted in this. The storyline is plain, the little dialogues absolutely dump, the editing and sound try to force suspense and fail spectacularly. But the worst is the direction. A good example how bad direction can ruin good acting.... Some actors managed to still make their characters acceptable, like the mentioned, but some are, I guess due the directing, insufferable, like Moseley. I am sure the director has better (in the sense of my taste) work, too - overstatement can have humor, but it is easy to mismanage. The only thing I liked in the film was that in the action scenes, the characters were often realistic - not talking of splatter blood, but the acting of pain and fear.

Geeez. This movie delivers on precisely what you THINK it will deliver on. All the action. Great girl-power fun movie. Is it next-level action? No. Do you have to suspend belief for a couple sequences - of course! But if you're in for a fun non-stop action ride that features a woman saving the day... then WATCH IT already!! Haters are gonna hate. I thought Olga and Amit both did a great job! Olga KICKS ASS!!

Trailers are very deceptive, I thought this looked a decent thriller but it turned out to be a low budget dud.
I'm a fan of Gary Oldman his last two films have been low budget, whats happened to his career ? Oscar winner to this dross.
Olga Kurylenko carries this film to a certain degree as a female John McLean.
Watch this after a few pints if you're lucky you will forget it next day.

I'm into cheesy movies with crazy plots, stories and just down right nutty directing but damn... this has got to be a down right shame to the studios and investors. The acting is BEYOND awful.
Don't get me wrong, Gary Oldman is the man and I love his performance in this but everyone else and everything else is not worth the film it's printed on.
If you like BMW bikes changing gears 15 times in a single shot then this movie is for you. Oh, and a BMW getting hot wired, Oh, and a BMW hitting the bad guys and a BMW getting shot 300 times with only 15 bullet holes then this is for you.
Save yourself 1hr 40 mins of your life and move on.

Slow to get going, but when it does you have already wasted more time that you should have. Sorry but it needed editing down to 1 episode of an action series that didn't make it past the 1st episode.
