La otra mirada

Excellent series with sumptuous scenery and costumes, fine acting, and story lines that keep the pace going. Some of it is far fetched, like how quickly they forgive each other or easily they overcome their prejudices, but we all want to watch how things 'could' be in human relationships, rather than how they really are typically where people hold grudges and intentionally hurt others. TV is meant to make you feel better about life, not worse, not remind you how horrible humans can be to each other, that's what the news is for. This show is emotionally entertaining and broaches subjects that are still relevant in the 21st century.

This series appears to be made for a specific local audience. It has little to offer in the way of global interest. It is a period drama from Spin that deals with changing social mores in that country during the 1920s. Attached to this main premise is a loosely fabricated mystery. The acting is below average, with actors delivering their lines as though reading from cue cards or a teleprompter. The heavy industrial strength makeup for the actors makes them all look both garish and ghoulish. That has a most disturbing and most distracting visual impact. It is, as others have pointed out, a soap opera filled with feminist messages about strong women and overtones of communism. It is really not worth the effort to go much beyond episode 1!

In spite of the fact that the series in in Spanish, so I had to read the subtitles, I think it is one of the most brilliant series I've ever watched!

There is so much to admire here: the intriguing plot with all its twists and turns, the outstanding cast, the sumptuous setting, the music, the clothing- all of it combines to be such a beautiful, mesmerizing, compelling series!

While there are a few main characters who draw our attention, the minor characters also add so much to this original and very creative series.

I have been unable to stop watching since I began because everything able the series has drawn me into the world of this wonderful school for girls in Saville. I've never been to Spain, yet I'm so completely drawn to these complex characters!

Please, please give us more! I want to know what happens to the school, to the students, to the teachers, and to my most favorite characters!

Do yourselves a favor and fall into the beautiful and complex world of this amazing, beautiful, complex series!!

Just finished watching season 1. Love the clothe, story line. Amazing cast. Loved how season 1 ended. Major twist on who killed Tersa's dad. Now I need to see what happens next. So upset that I can't find season 2 anywhere. Here on this app I can only find pictures of each episode of season 2.

Really enjoyed the acting and storyline of this series. Think it presented a very good snapshot of the 1920s attitudes and biases.

The acting was outstanding which also reflected a great absorbing writing talent and direction.

I have recorded some of the episodes and will go back to look at them again.

Without giving spoilers the 13th episode was a roller coaster of emotions with spectacular acting.

Great ability to draw the viewer in. Great translation at bottom of screen though tried to follow with my high school Spanish.

Was very disappointed to find there isn't a second season yet but hope one comes along and is picked up by PBS.
