The Mental State

No pun intended - there is the saying that we all are the heroes of our own movie/life. And this is particularly true in this movie. Even more so than other movies - motives for bad people can be quite muddled. Our main character here seems to be up against quite a lot of other people who do not seem to meet him on his level - who seem to bully him - we will be getting more on that as the movie progresses of course.

So as the story moves forward, things get clearer and a twist or two will help elevate the movie too. Also the actors are good - and you understand their motivation. Not always the easiest thing to showcase ... but they know what they see ... and if the relationship is there - well even if you may hope some would react differently ... it is understandable ... because of how close some people are with and to each other ... you'll understand once you watch. Thought provoking if you let it.

This is not a bad movie. Great acting, interesting story and character development. Nice cinematography and music score. Mostly good script.

But the story telling is disjointed. Things that shouldn't have been disclosed are disclosed too early. Parts of the story that should have been made known are told way too late.

Without giving any details away, this is in the vein of a school shooter movie. It is set right around the columbine tragedy.

The human relationships are portrayed very well in this film. But the way in which it is done is not remarkable - the family dynamics are not believable as portrayed.

Slow burn, not terrible story. But impossible to decipher a story arc.
