Innocent

It is an all right movie. The premise is deceptive, as we are introduced to him in what most would think is a holding cell. And then one would presume a public defender or lawyer is trying to get his side of the story as if he had not read any of the police reports. So one is led through the different events in his life, most point to criminal activities, although the one with the woman renting a room upstairs of him and his wife is rather humorous, with the late night noises. In French with subtitles. And he certainly has had some rather unique and unusual experiences that he is relating. He is a very generous and trusting person, which is what gets him into the troubles in the first place. But it is not a memorable film.

This film was a major disappointment, especially considering the promise of its initial premise. Right from the start, it struggles to find a coherent footing and never quite recovers. The plot feels disjointed and aimless, with scenes that drag on unnecessarily while more important moments are either rushed or barely developed. The characters are equally underwhelming, coming across as one-dimensional with forced attempts at emotional depth. The lack of genuine character development and uninspired dialogue make it difficult to connect with the story, leaving viewers wondering why they should care about the outcomes of these superficial, poorly motivated characters.

On top of the weak storyline and unconvincing performances, the production quality is severely lacking, especially in the sound department. Audio levels are inconsistent-some lines are nearly inaudible while others are excessively loud, frequently drowning out the dialogue or overshadowing action sequences.

The score does little to elevate the experience; at times, it's mismatched with the scene's tone or absent altogether, creating awkward silences where tension should be building. This poor attention to sound design only breaks the immersion further, making the film feel sloppy and unfinished. Overall, this is one to skip if you're looking for a captivating cinematic experience. It's a frustrating and disappointing watch, with flaws that make it feel like a waste of time.

I didn't expect this movie to be any good, but it was. The casting was very impressive, the gags were decent and the story had multiple layers so it would be hard not to enjoy. So if you want to watch an easy french canadian comedy, this film could work for you.
