Great acting. Great camerawork. Doesn't feel at all low-budget. Ok, that's the positives done.

Now.. if anyone can explain just what the hell happened in this film, I'll buy you popcorn for life.

Feels like 3 scripts were disected, shuffled, and put back together in a random manner as one whole script.

Seriously, I'd give it a miss if I were you. Try something less confusing.. like quantum physics.

Could be an good movie like the detective kind for the audience. In the end such a dumb thing. Ugh would like so much more, also the actions are not exciting enough make it more a drama movie than a sci-fi. Also the skipping through the movie

If they went the extra mile and got some decent actors l, this movie would have been fantastic. Good actors will improve the writing and the experience overall. This is the major problem with science fiction these days. Actors shy away from it unless it's paying big buck or has a big time crew, director, producer, etc. Science Fiction would get better, much much better if more indie movies were made with actors that believe in independent films. There's only one Blair Witch. That'll never happen again. There are so many great stories out there that are waiting for life, I wish more would be made.

Hint for the director - think about storytelling next time you're making a movie. If the first 30 seconds of the movie are already giving the audience a headache, re-cut it.

Terrible movie, it's slow and the performances of the actores are horrible I give it a chance but it is a no no, the trama it is kind of interesting but the way they did this movie it's disappointing.

I couldn't go lower than one star. First of all, why does this movie have 3 names?? Which one is it?? Lmao. Secondly, it was so terrible. Not one character was likeable or relatable. Everyone had that "durh durh" thing going on. Are they really that slow? Whoever is calling this a superhero movie is sadly mistaken. I thought heros helped people and did stuff? These are mental health patients with powers at best. Worst 85 minutes of my life and I couldn't even get into it until about 30 mins in. Probably why this was free with Prime considering it came out this year! Lmaooo

This movie has no plot and no meaning. I'd rather sit through a a movie of Z grade quality than a movie that looks nice and professional on the outside but has no plot nor meaning. Believe me when I say sitting through this movie was a torturous experience. I was waiting for an explanation for all the unrelated scenes I was forced to see from start to finish and in the end, I didn't even get that! Seriously avoid this stinker. I live in Iran. At the moment, I'm imprisoned in the house due to the corona-virus out there and I've been watching 4 horror movies a day during the past week to keep myself occupied. Out of all the movies I saw (most of which turned out to be pretty bad) there is a movie I strongly recommend that you see as well: Mirage (2018), one of the best movies I've ever seen, so don't waste your time with this movie and go see that one.

I'm a big fan of genre films and was waiting to see this one ever since I saw it advertised at Boston SciFi Film Fest. The trailer made it seem like a horror...other than the opening scene with the priest its not really much of a horror. The acting is really good especially the girl playing the lead. The fight scenes are really cool to see but whats with the eyes wide shut masks? Movie feels like a cheaper Chronicle. Other review mentioned the twist. I didn't see it as a twist...i figuted it out before it happened. Final shot was my favorite part. 6/10

Right, well from this 2020 action sci-fi movie's cover, I have to admit that I was expecting the movie to be filled with action, or at the least a proper pacing.

However, that was just wishful thinking, because director Matthew Ninaber delivered an insanely pointless and slow paced movie here with "Transference: Escape the Dark". I managed to sit through just a bit more than half of the movie, then I gave up on the ordeal, on the account of it being nothing more than people sitting or standing around and talking. Not even interesting or riveting dialogue, no, not even that was adequate.

The pacing of the storyline was so slow, pointless and uneventful that with each ticking minute it got more and more difficult to remain interested in a storyline that was dead even before the movie started. And a short point after midway, then I just tossed the towel in the ring and gave up. And believe you me, I am never returning to watch the rest of "Transference: Escape the Dark", it just simply isn't worth the time or effort.

Amazing that not only one, but three writers could collectively manage to churn out such a swing and a miss of a storyline.

I wasn't familiar with the actors or actresses on the cast list here, but they were just struggling with having nothing worthwhile to work with in terms of storyline, script, characters and dialogue. A shame, really, because I don't think that the cast ensemble in "Transference: Escape the Dark" were amateurs.

"Transference: Escape the Dark" was a swing and a miss movie, and it is not one that I would recommend you waste your time, money or effort on.

My rating of "Transference: Escape the Dark" lands on a two out of ten stars, and that is based solely on the production value.

I'm a big fan of independent filmmakers pushing the limits. This is a great slow burn thriller with some twist that keep the story interesting. An 8/10 for me.

Really enjoyed the film. Super slow developing. A few confusing parts that were saved with some flashbacks. Acting saved some of the writing. I wanted to see more of what each character could do. This is supposed to be a superhero movie, no? Will watch again. Hoping to see more of these characters.

Technically the movie is great. I read that it was a low budget movie but it's doesn't feel like it. The storytelling isn't mainstream so you will either love it or hate it. For me I really enjoyed the movie especially the last shot.

My only complaint is that there wasn't more of the last shot in the film... but that's money.

Too many trolls out there. This film has a 4/5 ranking on Amazon! I thought it was 'meh' after watching it the first time. Then I watched it a second time and picked up on something pretty BIG. Things make sense now. Acting is good across the board. Solid project from Canada.

It's a good movie that makes you think. I think a lot of people miss what's going on. You Definitely have to attention. Love the twists in this movie

Worth the watch. Not a flawless film, but it's darker and grittier than most superhero stories and it felt grounded and original because of this. Its clear it's not a big studio picture but for an indie film I thought it was well done. Interested to see what this studio does next.

Just saw this on Amazon. Slow-build. Confusing twist upon first watch. Watched the second half a second time and it all made sense. Cleverly constructed.

Some weak moments overall but I'm still thinking about it after the credits, and that's the real sign of a good story, in my opinion. Will watch again to see if there are clues I missed.

Actually much better than I expected for an indie film. Acting was good and the ending stays with you. Would definitely recommend!

This film seems like it's trying to copy the tone of Unbreakable, no? I ranked it 10/10 not because it's a perfect film, but it's trying to do something that I haven't seen since the early 90's - a thriller with slow-burn. The twist was fairly obvious, but I'm hoping there is more to the story based on how things ended.

In the midst of a time with no new major studio sci-fi. This indie just works and does the trick. Give it a watch!

Great acting, great twists. The production on this movie was top notch.

The enormous rise of superhero movies has meant that even filmmakers with small budget are trying to create something within the genre. Some have worked, some have not but with the restriction of the budget, writers have had to come up with clever ideas.

At first Transference has that definite feel of a sci-fi that is leaning towards horror but it slowly evolves into a more X-Men-influenced sci-fi movie. Lead character Emma possesses supernatural abilities and is almost being kept prisoner by her twin brother Joshua. He believes he is keeping her safe from the outside world, the people that will do horrible things to her if they discover what she can do. It soon seems that he is right when a mystery person starts to hunt him and his sister down.

Despite having all the elements of sci-fi, horror, superhero and thriller, Transference can never seem to decide exactly what it wants to be. And of course it doesn't have to be one thing but it doesn't always work when it flits between each genre.

Perhaps the most frustrating thing for me with Transference is that it seems to choose to be vague in so much of its story. It seems understandable at first, many movies don't let the cat out of the bag immediately. But everything here seems to not want to tell you alot.
