Darwyn Cooke’s DC: The New Frontier is one of DC’s greatest stories, but the cartoonist almost quit the series before it came out due to a disagreement over how Wonder Woman was portrayed. Thankfully, Cooke won the argument, and fans got to see the late writer/artist’s masterwork when it was published in 2004. But if DC/Warner Bros. had their druthers, The New Frontier might have entered the list of unfinished comic masterpieces.
Cooke shared the disagreement that came up over Wonder Woman in an interview with The Comics Journal in 2007, saying that it came down to Wonder Woman’s size and stature in The New Frontier.
