Writer and Director Ludovic Bernard said that his main reference was Good Will Hunting (1997) because it is a movie about the transmission "where three characters save each other, help each other."

Writer and Director Ludovic Bernard had the idea for this movie after hearing a young man play piano station Bercy.

Failing to find a pianist during the casting of the main role, Writer and Director Ludovic Bernard chose Jules Benchetrit, who he called "magnetic". Benchetrit was practicing piano three hours a day with pianist Jennifer Fichet. As for Lambert Wilson, if he was already playing the piano, he had to work enormously the synchronization of his hands. He says: "These work sessions with Harry Allouche allowed me to get into the reality of the film, to feel physically my role by spending hours in front of the score."

This movie was mainly filmed at the conservatory of Courbevoie and the Seine Musical. Ludovic Bernard described it as "an incredible place: everything has been studied so that the acoustic balance is perfect." He also wanted to show another Paris and "not to be afraid of good feelings by turning a kiss scene in front of Notre Dame, or the Canal Saint-Martin."

Ludovic Bernard is a big fan of opera, including La Tosca, but also of Chopin and Mozart symphonies.
