In the first drafts of the scripts Lu was supposed to be a vampire, but the idea was abandoned because it became too dark and they wanted to do something happier.

Michael Sinterniklaas (Kai) and Alyson Leigh Rosenfeld (Isaki) would later appear in Promare (2019) in which they voiced Vinny and Aina Ardebit respectively.

Lu is Christine Marie Cabanos' second mermaid character. She also voiced the titular character in Shinryaku! Ika Musume (2010).
