Exclusive: Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie has assembled the new incarnation of the beloved Ingalls family. Luke Bracey (Elvis) and Crosby Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) have been cast as the parents, Charles Ingalls and Caroline Ingalls while Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett) is set to play their eldest daughter, Mary Ingalls. The trio join Alice Halsey who has landed the role of the Ingalls’ second daughter and series’ narrator Laura.

Described as part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West, the new adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic semi-autobiographical novels comes from showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and CBS Studios. It picks up the story when the Ingalls have two daughters, Mary and Laura.

Michael Landon starred as Charles and executive produced the 1974 series, in which Caroline was played by Karen Grassle and Mary by Melissa Sue Anderson.

Andrew Stanton’s (pictured) next film completed principal photography last April, and according to a report over at World Of Reel, the project has now wrapped up post-production work too. The film has now been awarded an MPAA rating of PG-13 for sexual content, thematic material, and some bloody images.

That means that the director behind Wall-e, Finding Nemo and John Carter is almost ready to unveil his next film to the world – and it’s said to be an ambitious one, having started out on the Black List of Hollywood’s promising, unproduced scripts in 2016. Daveed Diggs is joining the world of “The Boys” as a series regular in Prime Video series’ fifth and final season. Details on Diggs’ role are being kept under wraps.

Based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel series where the superheroes are the bad guys, “The Boys” is set in a world in which a substance can turn people into superheroes. As such, a legion of corporate-backed celebrity supes enacts their own sense of justice while posing for cameras and covertly doing wet work for the government — kind of like an evil Avengers. The show follows a group of regular humans who work to bring the superheroes down.

“The Boys” is executive produced by Ennis, Robertson, showrunner Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Phil Sgriccia, Michaela Starr, Paul Grellong, David Reed, Judalina Neira, Jessica Chou, Ken F. Levin and Jason Netter.

The official announcement at D23 of Pixar’s Andrew Stanton writing and directing “Toy Story 5” is a big deal. Stanton has co-written the previous four “Toy Story” films, receiving Oscar nominations for the original and the third film.

But now as a director, he finally gets to be in total control of the franchise he helped establish. So if there was going to be a fifth “Toy Story,” he’s the perfect director for a couple of reasons.

The first is that, since “Wall-e,” Stanton has been fascinated with science fiction and the dangers of ubiquitous technology. The story for the fifth “Toy Story” allows him to double down on that fascination.

“Let’s be real,” Stanton told the packed Honda Center in Anaheim on Friday night. “Toys have some serious competition these days with phones, tablets, and technology everywhere. So, this time around, it’s toys vs. tech.

Pixar’s next installment of the “Toy Story” series is starting to take shape, as it was officially announced at the D23 Expo in Anaheim on Friday that “Finding Nemo” director Andrew Stanton will write and co-direct the upcoming project hitting theaters in 2026.

Stanton will co-direct with McKenna Jean Harris, who directed the Disney+ animated short “Ciao Alberto” based on the film “Luca.”

Stanton says that in the new film, Woody and the gang will find their jobs to make kids happy facing their toughest challenge yet: electronics. The crowd laughed at a concept art of all the toys looking sadly at a kid gazing a tablet from under the bed covers.

Stanton also revealed that there will be an army of Buzz Lightyear toys that are controlled by computers that will make things miserable for everyone.

Directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth, the epic-sounding drama Here is getting an earlier, wider release than initially expected this November.

A reunion between director Robert Zemeckis, screenwriter Eric Roth and star Tom Hanks, the drama Here has been in the works for at least a couple of years now. Long scheduled to premiere in the US this November, it was initially thought that Zemeckis’ film would get a limited release on the 15th of that month before getting a wider release a week or two later.

There’s been a slight change of plans, however, with Sony announcing that Here will open wider and earlier: TriStar Pictures will put the film in cinemas across the US on the original date of its premiere, the 15th November.

It’s potentially a sign of Sony’s confidence in the film, which has a sterling pedigree behind it at any rate.

Exclusive: Kate McKinnon and Andy Samberg have joined the cast of Jay Roach’s The Roses, starring Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch. Ncuti Gatwa, Sunita Mani, Zoë Chao, Jamie Demetriou and Belinda Bromilow also are rounding out the cast of the film, which starts production this month. Written by Tony McNamara, The Roses is a reimagining of the 1989 classic The War of the Roses, based on the novel by Warren Adler.

The story revolves around Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch), the picture-perfect couple who have successful careers, great kids and an enviable sex life. But underneath the façade of the perfect family is a tinderbox of competition and resentments that’s ignited when Theo’s professional dreams come crashing down. Producers are Cumberbatch under his SunnyMarch banner with Adam Ackland and Leah Clarke, Colman under the South of the River banner with Ed Sinclair and Tom Carver, along with Roach and Michelle Graham.

Exclusive: Duplass Brothers Production recently wrapped production on the Katie Aselton-directed feature Magic Hour, starring Daveed Diggs. Aselton stars alongside Diggs in the project which she co-wrote with Mark Duplass.

Exclusive: Principal photography has begun on Darrell Dennis’s coming-of-age Indigenous romance Sweet Summer Pow Wow. The feature will shoot on location in Duncan, BC on Vancouver Island through to the end of August 2023.

The film follows a young Indigenous couple as they get a break from their troubled lives when they find each other through a summer of love on the so-called Pow-Wow circuit, the trail of traditional summer gatherings of Indigenous people across Canada and the United States.

It’s time for “Smash” to be your star. Ten years after the cult-favorite musical drama wrapped its two seasons on NBC, a “Smash” musical is headed to Broadway for the 2024–2025 season.

Director Susan Stroman is attached to helm the production with lead producers Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron and Steven Spielberg.

Bringing back much of the series’ original creatives, Marc Shaiman is handling the music; lyrics will be by Shaiman and Scott Wittman; the musical’s book will be written by Rick Elice and Bob Martin; and the show will feature choreography by Joshua Bergasse.

Stanton is known for his animated classics Wall-e and Finding Nemo but is going live-action with a story that seeks to explore no less than the entire history of the world and tackle the nature of life, love, hope and connection.

Colby Day (Spaceman) wrote the script that focuses on three intersecting storylines with Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia mentioned as touchstones. Jones’ character is an anthropology professor who is taking care of her dying mother.

Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway are joining forces for “Mother Mary,” writer-director David Lowery’s third feature film with A24.

Described as an “epic pop melodrama,” the feature will delve into the relationship between a musician (Hathaway) and a renowned fashion designer (Coel).

Singer-songwriters and past collaborators Jack Antonoff and Charli Xcx will contribute original songs to the film. (Charli Xcx previously wrote the track “Hot Girl” for A24’s “Bodies Bodies Bodies.”) Daniel Hart, who worked on Lowery’s films “The Green Knight” and “A Ghost Story,” is set to compose the score.

Lowery will helm from his own script and produce alongside Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston. Jeanie Igoe of Homebird Productions and Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach of Filmproduktion will also produce. A24 will handle global distribution.
