Tom Berenger, Billy Zane, Chad Michael Collins, and Danay Garcia in Sniper: Ultimate Kill (2017)

Sniper: Ultimate Kill

52 समीक्षाएं
7/10

A solid 'Sniper' installment featuring Tom Berenger and Billy Zane

The seventh 'Sniper' franchise movie (the original was released way back in 1994 and I bet you they had no idea the characters from that film would be popping up twenty-three years later!) and the fourth to star Chad Michael Collins as Brandon Beckett, son of the legendary sniper from the original movie. Collins has really made the starring role his own.

'Sniper: Ultimate Kill' is the first movie to feature the trio of Brandon Beckett, his father Thomas (Tom Berenger) and Richard Miller (Billy Zane).

If you've enjoyed the previous instalments in this franchise, you're going to enjoy this one. Plenty of no-frills sniper action, a little intrigue, and the added bonus of seeing the original 'Sniper' stars reunited.

Sure, the uniforms might not be right, Brandon Beckett shouldn't have facial hair because he's a Marine, acting is sometimes a little wooden and the dialogue sometimes a little cliched, and there are plot holes so big you could drive a tank through them...but it's entertaining and true to the previous six movies.

Solid for Series Fans

Many decent elements come together for this entry in a series that has had its struggles. This is the blueprint for what they should be trying for in my humble opinion. It's obviously not perfection. Those seeking realism, a carbon copy of the original or aggravated by errors are in the wrong place.

'Ultimate Kill' starts with an atmospheric opening. Some classy music, gory violence and a curvy Columbian woman supplies some nudity (a first for the series) as some unknown VIP gets taken out by a sniper in Latin America. We are quick to find out a drug cartel is taking out it's rivals to form a monopoly over drug trade shipments into the United States.

Brendan Beckett (Chad Michael Collins) now a Master Sergeant is grieving and questioning himself. He's brought on board a mission by Miller (Billy Zane) to provide sniper overwatch to a DEA lead operation by Agent Estrada (Danay Garcia) to apprehend the elusive drug kingpin Morales (Juan Sebastian Calero). Down in Columbia, his dad Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) has come out of retirement and is running the show from behind a desk.

Things don't go according to plan naturally. Leaving the good guys to nab their drug baron target somehow and put an end to the contracted sniper known as El Diablo (Felipe Calero). They're also dealing with a possible security leak while Brendan and Estrada come to terms with the mental low points of their jobs.

This sequel supplies a straight forward story, but it's shot well and runs at a good pace. Another change in scenery is always appreciated. There's some action bits, but the focus stays on sniping as it should in a franchise like this. Established faces get to have their moments too. References to the past are great and there's a moment of meaningful emotion between the estranged father and son that we didn't get from their first meetup in 'Legacy'.

The villains aren't deep, but more than serviceable. Happy Agent Estrada didn't turn into a predictable romance. She carries her own if not a little too emotionally erratic. Far from boring and the only sequel that's been able to get the "main" faces all under one roof, 'Ultimate Kill' delivered. The drug angle wasn't special, but an increase in graphic violence, the inclusion of some nudity in addition to a cast reunion upped the ante this time out.

Solid enough straight-to-video sniper action

Jesus Morales, a Colombian drug lord has hired a sniper, known as 'El Diablo', to eliminate the competition and thus control the flow of drugs from Colombia to the United States. An operation to capture or kill Morales and his sniper is launched. It is led by DEA agent Kate Estrada and includes USMC sniper Master Sergeant Brandon Beckett. After an early setback it becomes clear that El Diablo is a skilled professional, rather than a self-taught amateur; it is also clear that he has a state-of-the-art rifle firing experimental homing ammunition. Estrada and Beckett will have a hard time getting their targets.

This is not a great film, far from it, but for a straight to DVD release it is pretty solid. There is a good amount of action and some decent moments of high tension. There are also plenty of clichés and technical errors not to mention the fictional ammunition available to the snipers... it would have been much better if had kept things more real. There are some fairly poor effects; showing CGI bullets as they head to their targets got old ages ago. On the plus side the acting is decent enough and we didn't get any cliché romance between Beckett and Estrada. I can't really say how it compares to other films in the 'Sniper' franchise; the only other one I've seen was the original and that was over twenty years ago. Overall not a must see but a solid enough film if you have ninety minutes to kill and enjoy the genre.

A solid movie for low budget

Did not expected to enjoy this movie.

Good acting by Chad, Janay, billy Zane, and Tom and antagonist sniper.

Good production values for a DTV movie, couple of good action scenes with sniper tension.

Overall nice watch.

Not a bad movie

Decent movie and continues the story-line nicely. It was good to see all the characters together and the ending was good. Overall its a good way to kill a couple of hours if you want some good kills and scenery.

Park Your Brain

Action, but not much more. Poorly written. Completely out of touch with reality. Predictable script. So if you simply want to park your brain and watch something that does not take any effort, this may be for you. I watched it while doing other things, It's that kind of movie.

Easy kill

Having new bullets/technology makes killing as easy as it ever was. Some think Snipers are easy killers anyway - considering the distance they have from their targets and all that. Now I have no idea how many movies we have in the Sniper series ... and I seriously have to rewatch the very first one they made. I remember it fondly and hope it is so - it was succesful enough to spawn so many ... well sequels of sorts.

Tom Berenger is still at it, but he lets the young ones do the heavy lifting and work. It is still nice to see him and Billy Zane back - even if it is in a smaller capacity. So while this isn't perfect, there are enough interesting moments to make this a more than decent watch.

Written by kindergarteners for airsoft gamers

LOVE this movie! This movie employed so many high school students and newbies! Screenplay was by the third guy from the left in Binghampton University's Screenwriting 101 class; visual effects from Miss Percey's Kindergarten Class of 2017, and military tactics was by the third cousin of the (in)famous Mall Ninja. (Google it.)

This movie not only employed hundreds of amateur writers, actors and crew, it was an boon to the airsoft gun industry and cheap Chinese radio dealers in South America. Female casting was obviously done by Harvey Weinstein, as every female in the entire movie was either a pushy b**** or a large-breasted whore. It was also nice to see that the traditionally disadvantaged film workers like the blind could get a job in continuity and editing.

Certainly, last time I attended USMC scout/sniper school, rule #1 was, as soon as the lens caps come off, randomly twirl the dials on your scope. Everyone knows a sniper can't hit anything until he/she randomly twirls a few dials.

Yes, I'm being sarcastic. I can tolerate radio earpieces in upside down and highly-trained military and DEA agents with their stupid fingers in the trigger guards (that should NEVER happen) because ... well, it's a movie. But when the "BEST sniper in the United States Marine Corp" has his flashlight mounted on the TOP rail of his (fake) M4 carbine - effectively blocking his view of the sights - I turned it off.

Dumb. Boring. Insulting to an audience who wants at least SOME semblance of reality. Just to illustrate how bad this movie is, even Billy Zane was so embarrassed to do this movie that he appeared only in brief cameos. And this is Billy Zane. The case rests.

This brings the "Sniper" franchise back on track...

Having been watching the "Sniper" movies since the very first movie, which I had on VHS. Then I have been more and more disappointed as the franchise progressed.

This 2017 addition to the franchise was actually the better of the last couple of "Sniper" movies.

Sure the plot was predictable, but the acting was good and the action was good. So that made it up for the movie having a very generic and straight forward plot.

The sniping sequences were especially good, which did add a lot of flavor to the movie.

The special effects in "Sniper: Ultimate Kill" were quite good, and I had not expect to see this kind of graphic violence in a movie such as this.

I was genuinely surprised and entertained with this movie.

It was quite interesting to have both Billy Zane and Tom Berenger return to reprise the two characters whom started the franchise, despite they did nothing more than just stand around and talk. Would have been a nice treat to have them return to the field as snipers.

Story, screenplay, direction

1. Story: poor storyline, looks like someone made a 90 minutes movie out of 10 minutes story. 2. Screenplay: they tried but!! 3. Directions: looks likes a 10th grader school boy

Pretty damn solid!

It's a great action movie, great cinematography, great editing, strong acting performance and a goo enough story. It's not like El Sicario or Miami Vice by far, but it's doing its entertaining job to keep viewers watching it without any break the whole movie.

Written Poorly, Technical Director Fail

First off, Things like mounting a Light between the Sights shows a lack of a Clue on the part of the Technical Director. The writters scripting things like You could all be court marshaled when talking to civilians , Typical Hollywood Guns that do magic. The acting is the strongest part of the Movie... That is saying something. While I hoped for much more I was sadly disappointed. Hollywood hire people that know something if you want to make this kind of movie.

Pretty decent addition to the series

I enjoyed this one a pretty decent amount. Way more graphic violence then any of the previous installments and 2 nude sex scenes, make this an 18a vs all others being pg13. But if you've watched any of the others I'd say 1 is ahead of all others. Then 2-7 have been about all equal with 4 being the weakest I'd say

Any Chance They Can Just Shoot Themselves?

As a stand alone movie this is average fare, nothing more.

The sniper scenes lack any real tension and its all very predictable.

Honestly though, how many more movies does this dodgy franchise need?

Is it trying to become Police Academy???

Actually pretty decent

My expectations weren't all that high. I signed up for a timewaster, with lots of action and perhaps some decent acting, judging by the cast.

Got lots more! Great to see Tom Berenger - he just gets better. Billy Zane is reliably good, lots of good acting altogether.

Great action, decent script, not taking itself too seriously, the female lead is wonderful. Lots of explosions.

Did its job and more. Give it a shot.

Engrossing and very entertaining

Not intended to be a blockbuster, but this is a slick production with some quite credible characters. Kate Estrada (Danay Garcia), the agent obsessed with bringing down drug-lord Morales gave a tough, refreshing performance, but equally I enjoyed Brandon Beckett's (Chad Michael Collins) calm, strong portrayal of the good-guy sniper.

No deep plots to overthrow the world here, but the relatively simple linear story-line followed though logically and made sense to my simple brain. Unlike many so-called masterpieces, this is a movie which one can digest in one careful viewing, but it had enough surprises to be interesting.

The hints of advanced projectile systems was something about which I wish more had been said, the few tidbits which were given, tantalized.

8/10 from me, a lot more than the current 5.6.

Worthy entertaining Sniper entry

(2017) Sniper: Ultimate Kill ACTION THRILLER

Someone gets killed by a sniper fire without viewers finding out why except that he was heavily guarded until there was a small opening from a window. Meanwhile, a sniper commits suicide, with both Brandon Beckett (Chad Michael Collins) and his suitor, Richard Miller (Billy Zane) paying their respects to his funeral. He then manages to convince Brandon to visit Columbia for another job.

Upon his arrival, and with his dad, master commander sergeant Thomas Beckett (Tom Berenger) happens to be one of them in charge of the operation in the take down of a known cartel,Jesús Morales (Juan Sebastián Calero) who's been eliminating other cartel rivals by employing the services of an expert sniper, Enrique Quingtera nicknamed as El Diablo (Andrés Felipe Calero). They do this with the help from Columbia's DEA agent, Kate Estrada (Danay García) leading the case in the capturing Morales. Except that one of the obstacles is that their appear to be a mole within the entire operation.

One of the better Sniper movies that moves the story along which although predictable, it also garner some imaginative direction that is unlike other cartel movies of this caliber.

Predictable and poor action

This is not an enjoyable movie to see. The writers are amateurs like they just finished from high school or something. It supposed to be an action movie but there was little or no action. Very predictable and bad acting. A complete waste of time unless you're looking for something to pass time.

Better than Sniper Assisian's End!

I have seen later sequel of this series, Sniper Assassins' End (2020). it was not impressive, but this previous version is watchable and more interesting. We can see thrill of snipers, their abilities, their weakness and tensions from their lives.
