Macho

A bad mash up between Ugly Betty and Project Runway. After twenty minutes I gave up and scanned ahead to see if it was worth it to keep going. It was not. Total farce!

This movie doesn't reflect how Mexicans think about the LGBT+ community... don't get your panties in a bunch. It's just a movie. It has some funny moments, the plot isn't great and, as a comedy/parody/satire, it's meant to be over the top and, in a way, ridiculous. Also as a gay man, I didn't find it homophobic or insulting; just a bit stupid. It is not depicting real life. Don't take it literally, too seriously or as a real life depiction. It's not a great story, or a great movie for that matter. It has nice film locations and OK acting. The first half is much better than the end, which was a little disappointing. Watch it if you have a couple of hours to spare.

Interesting movie about defining sexual identity. Not a crazy comedy: the topic is handled seriously, but still keeping the movie fun. Beautiful settings and costumes!

If you like fashion, men acting like women, men liking men and complexity of sexuality, this is a must watch.

There was a time when "gay" meant happy (and I mean just happy, just to be clear, I'm not saying that anyone who is gay is not happy - just wanted to make sure we're on the same page, no pun intended). In this case we have a designer who feeds into the image of what people think of men who make clothes (for women) and has quite some success with it.

Of course as with every movie problems and issues will arise (again no pun intended). For a movie as sexually charged as this, there is no nudity, other than people in underwear. But the main focus lies in exploiting those charged situations and the very flawed main character, by making fun of them. Not everything is a hit and especially the "violence" in it seems rather wrong than funny. There is more psychological abuse than physical of course, but the movie misses opportunities to be genuinely funny. Still it has its moments and if you like light entertainment, you could do worse

If you have nothing else to do, feel free to waste your time. Mostly a gay and fashioned theme movie which had no depth of any characters. Good for popcorn at the best.
