Beautiful Dreamer was written by Stephen Foster in 1864, shortly before he died. It wasn't published untill after he died.
He also wrote many other songs including: "Oh Susanna", "Camptown Races" & "My Old Kentucky Home".
Of Note: Beautiful Dreamer was featured prominently in the 1949 version of Mighty Joe Young.
