I haven't seen a movie this good in ages. Talk about an uplifting film. In a sea of movies without much substance.... this is like a breath of fresh air. Although there are underlying issues that are common to many families, the characters model a gentler and kinder way of working them through.

This is not just a movies, it's a story that reels you in.

A powerful performance from Simoné Nortman and a very accurate portrayal of 1970s South Africa, makes this a must watch movie for South Africans of all ages, who will, without a shadow of a doubt see themselves or those close to them, in the emotionally true characters within the film.

What a story!!! This is a girl born in an abusive house where she had to fight her way out. She is strong headed and knows what she wants. She doesn't care about traditions.

A movie supposedly based on the true love story of its two protagonists. This movie is a great change of pace from the Afrikaans rom-coms released in recent years. It had a much deeper plot than I expected but I had a stupid smile on my face by the time the credits rolled. The actors are very charismatic and make you root for their characters from the start. The 70s soundtrack is great as well.

I started this movie a few weeks ago. Not being one for sub-titles, I only watched the first 5 minutes or so and then switched to something else.

I decided to go back to it today, and I am SO glad I did.

I cannot recommend this enough. And if you're like me and don't tend to watch sub-titled moves, stick with it! You'll be glad you did.

Lovely story line, good witty humor and something unique. Its better than the expected standard for Afrikaans movies!
