The universal translator is treated as a magic Babelfish, allowing anyone to understand the language of someone the Union has never met before, which means that no samples of their language would be in the translation computer files. This hand-wave is carried over from Star Trek.

Moclan biology makes no sense. It appears that the "males" have all the necessary equipment for reproduction, which implies that they are in fact hermaphrodites. If that were the case, cisgender Moclans would have been bred out as useless, and the concept of "male" and "female" would be at best only a dim memory in the lexicon of the race.

Throughout the series, crew of all ranks are continually dating and breaking up with each other, leading to arguments, fights and in some cases, death.

It is for these specific reasons that such relationships are strongly discouraged these days in all branches of the military and it is reasonable to assume that this tradition would have continued up until the 25th century.

Characters use miles and meters inconsistently when measuring distance, whereas consistent use of meters makes more sense in a quasi-military organization. Star Trek was frequently guilty of this too.
