Since its premiere, How I Met Your Mother has become an iconic TV sensation. The series aired for nine seasons starting in 2005 and ending in 2014 while Ted Mosby told his children the long story of meeting their mother. The show portrayed five friends’ experiences in Manhattan while they dealt with adulthood, careers, and relationships in their lives.

Himym established its success through its different storytelling features as well as its humor combined with the undeniable bond among the lead characters. The show designed its plot structure in a non-linear way. Its memorable dialogue and brainchild concepts, such as “Bro Code”, lived on as pop culture references after the series.

However, fans of the show wonder about the fates of the original show members who portrayed these TV characters years after the series finale aired.

A decade after How I Met Your Mother concluded, Cobie Smulders has expressed her willingness to potentially return to the show. The actress portrayed Robin Scherbatsky, a role that brought her significant recognition before she took on the role of the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill in the MCU, where her character met an unexpected end.

And, while the actress has expressed that she would love to reunite with her former castmates of the Emmy-winning sitcom, the prospect of it could be hindered by one particular issue.

Actor, filmmaker and Emmy-winning producer Ash Christian died on Thursday. He was 35.

No further details about his passing or cause of death have been released.

Christian was the founder of Cranium Entertainment, where he developed and produced a number of films, including “Burn,” Coyote Lake,” Hurricane Bianca,” “Social Animals” and “1985.” He was currently working on Mayim Bialik’s directorial debut “As Sick as They Made Us,” starring Candice Bergen and Dustin Hoffman. The film is slated for an October release.

“Ash was a great friend, colleague and partner in crime,” Anne Clements, Christian’s friend and producing partner said. “He was a champion of indie film and filmmakers and his love of the process of putting movies together was infectious. My heart goes out to his family, especially his mother. The world lost one of the good ones.”

Ash Christian, an Emmy award-winning producer, actor, filmmaker and founder of Cranium Entertainment, died in his sleep on Thursday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was 35.

Born on Jan. 16, 1985, in Paris, Tex., Christian began writing and directing short films at the age of 14, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dreams just two years later. He wrote, directed and starred in his first feature film, “Fat Girls,” in 2006 at just 19 years old. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won an award for outstanding emerging talent at L.A. Outfest.

In 2014, Christian won a Daytime Emmy for outstanding special-class short-format daytime program for “mI Promise.” He shared the award with his producing partner Anne Clements and executive producers Lauralee Bell and Scott Martin.

Christian went on to act in several television shows including “The Good Fight,” “The Good Wife” and “Law and Order,” but found his true calling with production.

With social media so ubiquitous, it was only a matter of time before documentarians tackle the trend of social media celebrity. Last year, one of our favorite docs that was making the festival rounds was the film “Social Animals,” which looked at Instagram and the rise of teen celebs. Now, Hulu is getting involved with another festival darling doc, titled “Jawline.”

Unlike other social media docs, “Jawline” focuses on the fairly under-the-radar world of personal internet broadcasting, specifically with the young teen Austyn Tester.

Exclusive: How I Met Your Mother alum Josh Radnor has been cast opposite Al Pacino, Logan Lerman and Jerrika Hinton in The Hunt, Amazon’s vengeance-driven Nazi-hunting series executive produced by Oscar-winning Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele.

The Hunt, created by David Weil, follows a diverse band of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they’re known, have discovered that hundreds of high-ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.

Radnor will play Lonny Flash, a movie star who’s secretly a member of Meyer’s (Pacino) organization.

Lena Olin, Carol Kane, Saul Rubinek, Tiffany Boone, Louis Ozawa Changchien, Greg Austin and Dylan Baker also co-star.

Weil and Nikki Toscano serve as executive produces and co-showruns.

Gravitas Ventures has acquired multi-platform distribution rights to “Social Animals,” a documentary feature about life as an Instagram star.

Produced by Subconscious Films and its larger parent, the content studio Conscious Minds , the feature played to acclaim in SXSW’s film festival program this year. Gravitas will roll out the film on digital exclusively, starting with a paid VOD run on December 11. The distributor will also retain future TV licensing opportunities.

Directed by Jonathan Ignatius Green, “Social Animals” follows social media influencers in three distinct categories, described as “a thrill-seeking, New York-based photographer, an aspiring swimsuit model in California, and a Midwest girl next door.” The doc poses that each has “validated their existence through followers, likes and comments” and takes an unflinching look at Instagram’s impact on their respective identities.

FX has set the main cast for the eight-episode limited series “Fosse/Verdon,” Variety has learned.

The series is based on the biography “Fosse” written by Sam Wasson and tells the story of the romantic and creative partnership between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and Gwen Verdon (Michelle Williams).

Norbert Leo Butz has been cast in the series regular role of Paddy Chayefsky, while Margaret Qually will appear in the series regular role of Ann Reinking.

Not to be confused with the documentary also titled Social Animals, which just premiered at SXSW, this is a quirky rom-com about a young woman who is trying to get her life in order. Noël Wells stars as a "childless, single, broke, stoner" who attempts to salvage her failing business and love life while falling for a married man. Josh Radnor also stars, with Aya Cash, Carly Chaikin, Fortune Fiemster, and Samira Wiley. This "honest, uncompromising comedy of modern relationships" looks like pretty much every other movie about modern relationships, but as usual, it still seems enjoyable. Attempting to create an oral history of teenhood through the “filter” of Instagram, Jonathan Ignatius Green’s Social Animals is partly a combination of after-school special, reality check, and a story of the creative economy where both bodies and experiences have become a commodity exploited by “influencers.” A few years ago I covered the Northside Festival, where I discovered how acclaimed filmmakers made a living working in “branded content.” Also present were ad executives seeking to capitalize on the authenticity and “brand equality” of social media celebrities. Returning to this world, Social Animals follows two influencers and a young woman who feels the pressure of #SquadGoals, #LivingMyBestLife, and so on.
