This show just recently became a favorite ( Primal Survivor) & although after only thinking this to myself, after reading some of your reviews, I, too, had several
wth questions. Wish I hadn't because you Killjoys (jk) made me realize I may be right. I am continuing to watch because how else, if only glimpses, will we ever experience some of these incredible cultural & beautiful people? I was impressed with Hazen & I kept wondering how the heck someone could be filming this & keeping up with his seemingly torturous journeys/adventures! Okay I'm going to say this; he can beat the snot out of any naked & afraid "legend"!!!

I think its funny how people say this isnt a survival show. This man treks 500 mile jorneys in some of the most hospitable places. His camera crew follows in helicopters, boats, ect to keep up with him and film his jorney. He camps outside starts fires with local methods and lives 100% off the land during his journey. I would love to see some of these people leaving bs reviews walk 500 miles on a treadmill let alone the jungle. Great show he immersed his self in local cultures and embraces thier methods. Constantly catches the wild life and explains thier part in the given eco system. I hope they continue to come out with new shows because i will definitely watch them all!

Yes i know its scripted but the idea is good. Shows how different tribes lives, some unique techniques and equipment thats been used for years without or with small modern world touch. Also expands the vision of life in wild what to expect if you decide to take your own adventure and get some unique ideas how to survive in different situation. It does have 2 camera man and one person for audio. I like the idea of sharing some info about animals that lives in those regions. In general one of the best series so far released with the actual knowledge, not just a cheap Hollywood where most made in film studio. I bet most of those with one star review couldnt even survive an hour😀hope there will be more seasons!
This show is amazing. Probably one of the best things I've ever watched. I love this and told my boyfriend about it. He is now hooked with me. We are extremely addicted and have lost our jobs because all we do is binge watch this series. I have forgotten to call my parents, and they have done multiple wellness checks on me because they are deeply concerned. My boyfriend and I have gotten our yak farm taken away because we cannot stop watching. We have five televisions on the yak ranch, and all of them are playing Primal Survivor on loop. We'll sit down on the toilet, and now wanting to miss a second of action, will watch Primal Survivor while we use the bathroom. Thank you, Hazen Audel.

I found this very interesting and an enjoyable watch. Having read a previous negative review I believe that they were missing the point of the show.
The show does provide great survival advice. However, it isn't supposed to be designed to save YOU. Its more about Hazen trying to survive by studying fascinating tribe culture and using their techniques to survive harsh landscapes.

This is one of my favourite shows ever. I really like a lot watched and learned some nice skills from him. His survivor abilities and knowledge is outstanding and he is learning from tribes how can he survive in the wild places.
Also this show is watch to fun and enjoyable.

The guy already knows everything he needs.
Or he learns them off-camera so we're not really following him in his journey.
His just cutting down tress in warm climates and get bitten by ants

Its called primal survivor. It's literally about a man taking the knowledge he's already learned from the indigenous tribe and taking on tasks and challenges that most people would be way to scared to even attempt. To all the people complaining about wanting to see more of the tribes people you are watching the wrong show. You think that most of these tribes allow that or even want that at all? There is a reason why there are some more scenes of tribes people from different tribes, they have they're own preference about the camera, you people are making it seem like it's the producers choice. 🤡

The first couple of episodes were great but once the focus switched to Hazen. I lost interest. The people are amazing. Seeing them live in their environment and teach is so much better. The way the show shifted to focusing on Hazen's solo tasks makes it seem like the either doing tasks with the tribe was too much or they wanted the ability to edit out more difficult tasks. If that's the case who cares if Hazen can't do a task on the tribal level. It just adds a level of respect to the lives lived by the tribal people.

I do enjoy the show, however it would be so much better if there was more time spent with the actual indigenous people and how they survive in their environments, instead of getting the knowledge second hand through Hazen.
I love a survival show and have pretty much watched them all now. I have just come across this show and watched them all in a few days.
Hazen lives with tribes and uses skills learn't to survive a tribal journey.
He travels to all kinds of environments and really has a lot of knowledge about the nature and environment, its great to watch with my kids. You can tell he really cares about the environment and doesn't kill or harm animals that he doesn't need to.
Can't recommend this enough, unless you don't like survival shows!

Same storyline and scripted show for all six seasons and episodes. He (maybe) briefly meets with indigenous groups or just talks that he did and learned their survival skills. He walks across jungles, savannahs, plains, makes a fire, shelter, swims across rivers, fishes, discovers snakes, bugs, plants, and eats whatever might be edible. Boring until next episode then a repeat of previous episode. It's Groundhog Day movie meets Primal Survivor. Other NatGeo shows are more interesting. Plus he destroys nature by destroying bee colonies.
Its one of the best documentaries I've ever watched! Detailed expressions and actings of Hazen Audel about the people lifestyle.
Best camera crew!! The shooting is perfect 👌 Good quality 👌 Diversity of places and habitats 👌 Interesting and dangerous missions that Hazen Audel has to accomplish. 👌 I love this show. Everything's awesome and adventurous and I recommend it to you.
But some of the episodes contain nudity, so be careful and don't watch it with any age groups.
It also might be scary or brutal for some people because for surviving, they will apply different kinds of activities. I hope you enjoy it😘😘

..is because in the later seasons, whoever wrote this series started to completely miss the point of the show. The exciting part was watching the natives teach him, see how they live, see how they survive. I want to see more of that. As the show goes on, the whole thing just becomes centred around him, which is a dumbed down and boring version of the absolute brilliance this show once was. Whoever made that decision should be fired. This series is now dead to me.
There's no doubt this guy is quite knowledgeable and I really enjoyed the early season, or maybe it was his previous show Survive the Tribe. But this is not a true survival show. It's just a series of quick disjoined demonstrations on some survival tactics. He'll catch some fish, then they'll rot because he doesn't have a fire. Then he'll use them as bait, catch a huge fish, still not have a fire ready, then cook and eat the fish in two minutes. Obviously 90% of that fish went to waste.
This show is so contrived and setup it's hard to even attempt a suspension of belief... Like he can be walking through the Amazon, starting calling out noises and find natives and just be like, "hey how's it going?" and they're not surprised at all to see him? Or he approaches some natives' horses grazing in the wild.. so he goes up to them, then decides to ride their horses? And then after when he meets up with the natives they're totally cool with that? Or how he puts himself into precarious situations with dramatic music and fast cuts just to create this contrived suspense.. It's just annoying.
As I said, Hazen is very good, and with the right concept of show it could be excellent, but this is just silly.

Whilst it's undoubtedly interesting, the high quality production ended up really detracting from the whole thing for me. There's beautiful cinematography, impressive shots and loads of stuff going on. But great shots of him/the scenery from multiple angles kept me constantly wondering how many camera men he had (looks like there was a crew of 5) plus you gotta think there's a translator/fixer as well and all of a sudden this isn't one guy surviving in the jungle but a whole team of people that have come with provisions, equipment, probably porters and it starts to feel really staged. Hard to think he's really going to bed hungry because he didn't catch any food if all the other guys are eating their full rations they brought with them.
He has so much information about what he sees too and that too seems somewhat unrealistic - later voice over of info would feel more genuine, but knowing it all in advance again feels like it's been staged. After one episode I decided that I probably would not watch any more.

I withheld judgement until the latest in the series, Extreme African Safari - Serengeti. I now realize how played the audience is. This man is not on a solo adventure. He does not have this bast knowledge of all things flora and fauna. He has a crew of what? Maybe a dozen with him? All the knowledge and biofacts he spouts? He's fed those bits. He may know some things but not all. And he is for sure not standing 10' away from a baby elephant while the mum and the rest of the herd look magnanimously on. Ditto with the lions. You know there was someone in the background, a park ranger or three, with a gun. Stop playing us. Stop playing us with the planted tribesmen who all speak English. (Is "jambo" really used everywhere?) Tribesmen are not going to just accept you in and let you join for dinner when all they got on that hunt was one guinea hen. Show that you brought something in exchange. You know you did.
And filming as if you are standing in the middle of "rampaging wildebeest" (his words, not mine) was sensationalized filming at its best.
Please be real with with who you are and what you are doing. I've lost interest. I'm all about real nature and conservation. I'm not about some dude who carries a machete and hacks at bushes just to make it look like he needs to. You didn't.

I can say about this show that "primal" only reflect the stupid and deranged, fake behaviour of this Hazen guy. He's ridiculous, and the producers are even more dumb, though they even aren't among snakes and mosquitos, like the poor above-mentioned hero.

FYI: Disney+ has this show mislabeled. "Season 1" is actually the sole season of a completely different show called "Survive the Tribe," while "Seasons 2-5" are actually seasons 1-4 of the show "Primal Survivor." This review is focused on Primal Survivor.
This show completely misses the unique perspective of Survive the Tribe. Instead of watching Hazen learn about tribal customs and learning how to survive the area from the masters of the region, all of the learning is done off screen, and we see the results of Hazen trying to replicate what he was taught as a noticeably less experienced Survivor in the area.
This looks like a case where the production studio completely missed the point of the original show, and then decided to replace it with a cheap cash grab attempt at copying Survivorman or Man vs Wild instead of sticking with something truly unique and informative.

I very much enjoy watching documentaries of other cultures. However, this guy is annoying and a distraction. He is put in a situation - supposedly to highlight a culture's lifestyle and values - but, instead, he uses it as a vehicle for self-aggrandizement. Totally uninteresting and unbelievable. Oh, my. All that he can do! And soooo powerful. A Mega-Man....he is Not. I'd rather listen to David Attenborough than watch this lame duck pretend.

Anything this guy is going through is a part of tourist package in those remote spots.
I guess the budget of the show is very humble.
You won't find even traces of true survival here, but the show can still be useful.
You could see widespread techniques of harvesting, fishing and hunting in the tribes. Check out the way boats and huts are made.
Probably the show creators wanted to use the main character as an image of a wild man, a jungle survivor, it's a good idea, but there are true survivors out there and experienced travellers in plenty. Instead they preferred to hire a pretty obvious actor who makes the whole show looks like a total fake.
I'm giving 5 stars out of 10, because any effort to create something unique in the survival field deserves gratitude. Because it's hard.
