The narrator can't say her "s'es." She constantly says "thip" and "athore" among other mispronunciations. It's so distracting and my husband and I just laugh all the time. Otherwise the shows would be "interethting" to watch. They are like commerthials for the cruise thip industry but that's understandable. We have been on many cruises on many thips and so we have an idea of what it's like. We've been on thom large thips but not like the mega thips that they have today. Our favorite so far are the Cunard Queens. I don't know if the Smithsonian has done a review of them. If they do, I just hope they'll find someone who can say the word "ship" since the show is about "ships."
This show isn't unbiased look at cruise lines, it is an hour long infomercial for each cruise line they feature. They take you "behind the scenes" to show how each dept works and how they handle issues, some of which is most likely scripted. The worst ones are the ones that feature Royal Caribbean. They gush over this cruise line and it feels like the Royal Caribbean guest info/infomercial video playing 24-7 on their guest room TVs. Royal Caribbean is at best 4-10, so there is a distinct impression that they had to approve this episode before it aired. If you're good with a completely biased cruise line promotional show, then this is show for you. But if you're watching in the hopes that you can get some good info on a cruiseline you're considering, do yourself a favor and check review sites like Trip Advisor.
I really like the concept of this series. A different ship from a different cruise line is featured in each episode. You learn about navigation, hospitality logistics, a bit about the performances, and the kitchens. It's pretty interesting. One thing I think could have been better though, is that each episode mostly focused on the same things - just a different ship and a different destination. So I found it to be a little repetitive. What would have been great would have been if some episodes were focused only on navigation, and you really dove deep into one or a few aspects of it in each of the episodes, and then if there were another set of episodes just on the kitchens, and another set just on hospitality, etc. For instance, every episode that I can remember included a challenging docking. I know that docking is incredibly difficult and can be dangerous. But it appeared in each episode, and at the same surface level of detail. They could have focused an entire half or even a full episode just on docking in different circumstances and on different ships rather than say the same thing every episode. I did enjoy the series though, it's a good show to watch to unwind right before bed.
Mighty Cruise Ships gives a solid overview of the cruise industry, detailing how massive ships operate, from engineering feats to crew coordination. It explores onboard systems, passenger amenities, and daily logistics, offering a peek behind the scenes. Whether you're new to cruising or a regular, it's a great way to understand what goes into your trip. I watched it before sailing on the Celebrity Ascent from Fort Lauderdale and found it easier to enjoy the ship. New episodes on modern ships would be a welcome addition-there's so much evolving in cruising today.
Looking forward to a new season of this show.

Just saw an episode, and it was actually very interesting. Well-edited, well-written. Not the sort of thing I would watch often, but I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is fascinated by engineering or ships or both.
One thing that really ruined my enjoyment of the episode, however, is that the narrator was either directed to or took it upon herself to read everything as if the subject matter was hilarious. I swear she sounded like she had a huge smile on her face as she described how close the top of the ship-or the captain's head-got to the bridge they were going under. It made it sound like she had no comprehension of what she was reading.
For narration, it's not enough to pick someone with a pretty voice; there should be intelligence in the intonation. And while describing a possible expensive accident, it shouldn't sound like you're talking about a surprise party. I really hope she didn't do this in the rest of the episodes, or I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, no matter their interest in the subject.
