Exclusive: 30 Rock alum Keith Powell, Jill Knox (Keith Broke A Leg), Shakina Nayfack (Transparent), Ely Henry (Suburgatory) and Preacher Lawson (America’s Got Talent) are set as series regulars in NBC comedy series Connecting, from Blindspot creator/exec producer Martin Gero, his frequent collaborator Brendan Gall and Universal Television, a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios.

Written and executive produced by Gero and Gall, Connecting, which has received an eight-episode straight-to-series order, is an ensemble comedy about a group of friends trying to stay close (and sane) through video chats as they share the highs and lows of these extraordinary times.

Nayfack will play Ellis, a pragmatic, type-a and a huge Clippers fan. Powell and Knox, who are married in real-life, will play husband and wife Garrett and Michelle, who are thriving in quarantine. Henry will play Rufus, paranoid and conspiracy minded, he’s more comfortable online than off. Lawson will portray Ben.

MidWest WeirdFest have announced its first programming wave for their third annual festival – a cinematic celebration of all things fantastic, frightening, offbeat, and just plain weird – which takes place March 8-10th 2019 at the Micon Downtown Cinema in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Says festival founder and programming director Dean Bertram:

This year’s fest line-up is set to delight fans of cutting edge horror, sci-fi, underground, and documentary cinema. We’ve put together a heady and eclectic mix of speculative genre offerings, underground strangeness, and paranormal revelations: From a psychedelic Manson Family reimagining and a post-apocalyptic dance-off epic, through tales about a reanimated electrokinetic teenager, haunted stoners, and inept buddy superheroes, to a bonkers lake monster adventure and the most in-depth Bigfoot documentary ever produced. And that’s just from MidWest WeirdFest’s first programming wave of 2019!

The upcoming David Bowie box set Loving the Alien (1983 – 1988) has revealed its newly revamped take on “Zeroes,” a track off the full-album “2018 version” rerecording of the late icon’s 1987 LP Never Let Me Down.

Prior to his January 2016 death, Bowie expressed a desire to rerecord Never Let Me Down, “a bitter disappointment” as he called it, with less-dated production and instrumentation; this version of “Zeroes” strips off the Eighties synths and gated drum sound and fills in the void with newly recorded guitar work while keeping Bowie’s original vocal track intact.
