The Girl in the Cornfield

Only a few words on this, the first installment of the franchise, as im queuing up the sequel right now. the sequel that is, by the way, TWICE as long as this movie. the story here is loosely framed, to say the least. add three barely directed teen lead actors, and the feeling throughout "the girl in the cornfield" is one of confusion. storylines rattle around, a few pull a consistent thread; a few more subplots disappear with barely a moments focus. its meandering, poorly shot, and strangely boring for a 68 minute thriller. on to the 2 hour 17 minute magnum opus sequel, say a prayer for all of us

Nope, this is what happens when people think they can act or even rent midrange video equipment.

Okay really I watched this for a second time after not reviewing it the first time I saw it and I just had to shut it off. I made it to about 13 minutes before the ending but enough is enough.

Just bad acting...bad writing, I really couldn't stand it.

I love a good creepy cornfield movie and this one is no exception. If you enjoy other cornfield flicks like Children of the Corn, Dark Night of the Scarecrow or The Husk you need to add this to your list of creepers. Heather is driving her friend and sister home from a night at the club, she doses and runs into a girl in the middle of a back roads cornfield. When they get out of the car, she has vanished into the cornfield leaving behind a ghastly trail of blood. After they return home the doorbell rings in the middle of the night. There is no one there but the run over girls bloody nightgown was left on the bed. There is plenty of imagination, imagery and suspense that will definitely keep you on the edge. Well shot with quite good cinematography, good sound, good effects and some above average acting. Ryan Callaway has produced, written and directed an entertaining horror flick.
