Hmmm 🤔

So the acting was terrible but had some eye candy in it which helped me finish the film. It almost reminded me of Disturbia but I actually liked that film. It's alright if you can't find anything else to watch!

Same old LMN stuff

Same idea, same story-line, same boring actors and same boredom in watching. However it's good when you're working at your desk and need some sound to break the silence. Not having to watch the silly nonsense is a treat, believe me. I won't mention names as I don't want to promote these bad poker faced actors. Plot wise without delving into specifics so as to not let you know the contents (you must be forced to watch this tripe). The leading lady is so wrong for the role. Although the role has something to be desired. This film is trying to make a hero out of a snoopy young thing that goes around taking candid pictures of her neighbors without their permission. Totally in the wrong, she expects sympathy? You gotta be kidding. You want her to get her up-pence. There is no compassion for someone who goes around accusing innocent people and interfering with their lives. Get a life, sweetie.

All those stalkers ...

... so little time. Although as someone else pointed out, this is not really accurate ... or rather a bit missleading. Which isn't a bad thing, if you consider that the movie itself is fairly easy to see through. At the beginning you may feel like me - confused. Because it's like alright, this is way crazy. Then you get the reveal and you're like ... ah well.

The thing is, the movie may work until that moment. Somewhat work. But after that moment? It's downhill from there. It's almost a shame, but then again the acting might be an indicator ... a sort of warning sign. This is obviously a movie made for TV. And not HBO TV or Netflix if you count that as TV (some even call the latter the death bringer of TV). Anyway, very predictable from that one reveal and really not daring that much - not to mention all the crazy characters and their slow thinking - to put it mildly

Not a classic, but still good

A girl and her mom move to the suburbs after the daughter survives a terrifying ordeal in her city apartment. The girl likes to take photographs and some of her photographs convince her that her neighbors are not what they seem to be.

Of course, like a lot of TV films, the girl suspects the wrong person of stalking her and doesn't realize her mistake until it's almost too far gone.

I feel like the big reveal of the killer could have waited until closer to the end, and that there could have been a bit more drama, but all in all not a bad movie to watch on a Saturday night.

The title isn't accurate but still quite entertaining

The title isn't quite accurate. Not a stalking movie at all. The story is about a teen girl who is raped in the city moves to the burbs with her mom. She is still a little paranoid and starts taking pictures of her neighbors. There is a murder of her neighbor and then she proceeds to uncover things. Things move quite quickly as her suspicions about the murderer change.

Worth one watch.

Just okay .. not WOW .. but to be fair there were some thrilling moments ..

it's a good movie for a TV style... Good storyline , the writers did a nice job,, thou how ever it gets it stays a TV movie ... not that excitement you see in theaters .. i kinda felt the acting was no where on point it's like really "acting".

So it starts with a girl being stalked to girl falls into the game so deep and turns into a stalker somehow and try to incriminate the whole neighborhood to figure out the real killer.

The plot is really good but they kinda revealed the killer so soon, they could have delayed it till the end or so --. There are some holes here and there like i mean one of the things i noticed that a woman has been murdered and no funeral !! come on !! it's useless but still somebody has died !!

They also kinda congested the whole thrill to the final 20 or 15 minutes. The cast was okay but the leads looked new on this.

overall the movie is just okay ... yes i endured watching the whole 70 minutes but it's not my cup of tea ... just a normal movie night on TV :\

Peeping Tina

Alone in her West Hollywood condo, pretty blonde teenager Kelcie Stranahan (as Jodi Allen) is attacked and raped by an intruder while talking to her mom on laptop video. Three months later, single mom Amy Pietz (as Andrea Allen) has moved her daughter to a presumably safer suburb near the Angeles Crest Mountains. Still skittish, Ms. Stranahan occupies herself taking photographs of the neighbors. With her zoom-lens, she specializes taking pictures of handsome young men in the neighborhood. Stranahan is a real "Peeping Tom" (or, more appropriately, a "Peeping Tina"). An obvious favorite is muscular young Grant Harvey (as Nick Thompkin). Stranahan happily catches him washing his truck while wearing only a baggy pair of sweat-shorts...

This ends up being an ordinary and very predictable "Lifetime" TV movie thriller, but you have to give writer-director Doug Campbell credit for so obviously portraying heroine Stranahan with what some might consider a character flaw; apparently, she takes "half naked" photos of young men for her own personal enjoyment. She also takes pictures of her neighbors' windows at night. Soon, she thinks she has witnessed a deadly crime. This updates what many correctly saw as perverse subtext in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window" (1954). But, back to this story. The camera angles are nicely done, especially when Stranahan checks another neighbor's house for an intruder while wearing her own little shorts. "Lifetime" knows its PG audience.

Squandered Potential

Plot briefly - daughter Jody is cruelly raped in city apartment, after which loving Mom moves them to supposed safety of upscale suburbia. But is it. We'll see.

What interested me was youthful Jodi's traumatized mental state after being raped by a stranger. Actress Stranahan does a good job in this early part expressing mental imbalance without going over the top. For example, her fascination with sneaky photography of neighbors could be traceable to that trauma, or her accusing boy Nick of the later murder crime without evidence could also be a result.

Too bad the screenplay soon returns her to normality through turn-around puppy love with neighbor Nick. Then too, suspense is undercut by a too-early reveal of the killer that removes the fun of a guessing game. Without these give-aways, we might even suspect Jodi as the killer, imbalanced as she initially is. That unknown would have considerably raised the movie's suspense level to a fascinating degree. Instead, the screenplay opts for a more conventional type suspense rather than exploring the rich potential of Jodi's lingering trauma.

Nonetheless, the flick has several notable touches - the real suburban neighborhood with its upscale homes; the unusual all-girl showdown, poorly done though it is; and good crisp eye-catching photography.

All in all, the suspenser strikes me as average at best, with a squandered potential at worst. Anyway, despite the downside, it's probably worth a quick look-see.

Stalked?

Like others have said, this movie is misnamed. There's not one central person here who's being stalked, but there is a person with a camera who is playing Nancy Drew. Not terrible for a lifetime movie. Lots of gaffes as usual though. Neighbors trying to sneak around but walking right out to each other's homes in broad daylight doesn't make it easy to keep an affair private. That was ridiculous. There were some other ridiculous gaffes and plot holes but that's par for an LMFC.

ABOUT MY REVIEWS:

I do not include a synopsis of the film/show -- you can get that anywhere and that does not constitute a meaningful review -- but rather my thoughts and feelings on the film that hopefully will be informative to you in deciding whether to invest 90-180 minutes of your life on it.

My scale: 1-5 decreasing degrees of "terrible", with 5 being "mediocre" 6- OK. Generally held my interest OR had reasonable cast and/or cinematography, might watch it again 7 - Good. My default rating for a movie I liked enough to watch again, but didn't rise to the upper echelons 8- Very good. Would watch again and recommend to others 9- Outstanding. Would watch over and over; top 10% of my ratings 10 - A classic. (Less than 2% receive this rating). For Lifetime Movies for Chicks (LMFC), drop the above scale by 3 notches. A 6 is excellent and 7 almost unattainable.

An absolute classic

I've seen a good deal of Lifetime movies and without question, Stalked by My Neighbor is one of the most well crafted, especially in terms of how the trials of Neighbors are explored. The movie leans on the usual Lifetime melodrama, but also invests time to develop Jodi Allen as a believable, grounded character. This includes a masterful early montage that establishes the repetition, tedium, and denied relief she experiences. This is potent, realistic content that deserves more eyes, though of course, the movie soon pivots into a thriller. Even then, Jodi's mental health and vulnerable state are factors in how the thriller elements unfold, so while there's the melodrama, this is very well written and executed. The shifts between grounded and melodrama might seem like they'd be jarring, but that isn't the case and Stalked by My Neighbor isn't a wild, over the top ride like some Lifetime movies, more of a grounded thriller that dials things up when needed. Still a good amount of drama and a fun thriller, but it does a lot more than just provide a simple whodunit, so the movie deserves some solid credit. If you have even a minor interest in Lifetime cinema or just want to see a skilled take on the tribulations of Neighbors, give Stalked by My Neighbor a look.

Ridiculous

One of the other contributors hit the nail on the head when they said the title of the movie was wrong. In fact it was in fact Jodi who was the stalker, photographing the neighbors without their knowledge like a peeping tom, and following them and breaking into their homes.

The story line per usual was ridiculous. Jodi had massive trauma only three months earlier when she was raped at home. And yet here she is drooling over a neighbor boy taking pictures of him even after he catches her doing it. I do not want to assume anything about rape victims in real life nor do I wish to disrespect them, but to me it seemed far-fetched that someone like Jodi who at such a young fragile age goes through such a horrific experience and apart from a few scenes where she is on edge and jumpy, for the rest of the movie she acts so normal and even gets romantically drawn to the neighbor boy whom she has only known for three weeks.

And the lecture Nick gives Jodi's mom was just pathetic. The movie tried to copy Hitchcock's Rear Window and the newer Shia Labeouf movie Disturbia, both of which were in the league of their own.

A star is born - Charles Hoyes stuns again

I sat down in my gaming chair on a rainy Saturday night, preparing for another directorial masterpiece by Doug Campbell. Man guys, let me say... wow! From the super sleuthing of the main character, to the expressive face of Grant Harvey, aka Nick Thompkin. His face would change to express specific emotions, it's almost as if he was able to convey how he was feeling, through his face. And while Grant Harvey delivered a deliciously superb performance as per usual, the real shining star was his father, Charles Hoyes, aka Eddie Thompkin.

Though his lines were few and far between, he was still the star of the show to many audiences alike. Anyone with taste should be able to watch this film and appreciate the utter superstardom that radiates from Charles Hoyes person. I sat at the edge of my seat wondering, what is Eddie thinking? Where is Eddie going? What will Eddie DO? I couldn't help but just GUFFAW when he delivered his comedic monologue regarding his sons innocence.

When Charles Hoyes gets his well deserved Oscar for Leading Actor in Stalked by my Neighbor, I will be in the audience raving for his excellence.
