Killing Lazarus

When I first saw the "5" Star rating at Amazon Prime. It caused me to take pause. I thought of come on now, really? There's not one person who thought that maybe it's a "4" (lets not go to the bonus round of trolls out there who put a "1" down just because). Well, after watching this film, I get it. WOW! What a great film. So, I'm glad to say... I kept the Amazon "5" Rating going. Go watch this film.

Killing Lazarus is a poignant drama that explores many topics. The film covers drugs and violence but also spirituality, mental health, and friendship. Killing Lazarus is a timely and relevant movie that has the spirit of a more modern and nuanced Menace to Society or Dead Presidents. Killing Lazarus reveals the reality behind groups that are too often reduced to easy one dimensional stories of criminality in most films and beyond.

Killing Lazarus is produced by Issa Rae of HBO's Insecure, who obviously saw the value of this project and helped bring it to the screen. The project is skillfully written and directed by Desmond Faison. The cinematography by Will Novy is quite beautiful.

If you're looking for a timely and complex film, I would highly recommend watching Killing Lazarus.

I really like the movie with the exception of the ending.

I was really blown away by the excellence of Killing Lazarus. From the script to the performances, this film deserves more attention. Remarkably acted, deftly directed, and incredibly produced, this film had me from the first scene! Riveted. I highly recommend this very timely film. Bravo to the team behind it!!

Definitely a great movie... the writing was excellent. I enjoyed every minute of the movie. I recommend that everyone should see the movie.
