In 2017, Google commissioned Sasha to create a Google Doodle in honor of Marlene Dietrich's 116th birthday.

Is known for performing with a bald head in drag. This is tribute to his mother, who died of cancer in 2015 and lost her hair during treatment.

Identifies as genderqueer and doesn't have any preferred pronouns when out of drag. When performing in drag, Sasha Velour is referred to as 'she' or 'her'.

Spent time as a part-time security guard at the Russian State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, and interned at the Staatsoper (State Opera) in Berlin, Germany.

Received an MFA in cartooning from the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont (2013).
