It’s eight years since one of late Irrfan Khan’s most successful films Hindi Medium was released. Irrfan + Social Issue, bound to work. He was known to be a thinking actor with very definite views of politics and culture.

The trauma that parents face is alchemized in Hindi Medium into something smile-inducing and heartwarming, something quite magical in its ability to hit us where it hurts the most without damaging our sense of self-worth. Not that director Saket Choudhary trivializes the pain of parenting, as it crosses the hurdles of schooling protocol.

To his credit in Hindi Medium, director Saket Chowdhary does not allow proceedings to get preachy, screechy, or downright hysterical. Most issue-based films can’t help lecturing down on the audience. Saket eases you into the life of a terribly endearing couple—lovable with all their whims, excesses, and fancies, Armaan and Armanis – played by Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar.

Mumbai, March 20 (Ians) Actor Atul Kulkarni, who is receiving accolades for his work in the recently released streaming series ‘Happy Family: Conditions Apply’, has said that the series brings out the generational differences in a humorous way.

In the series, Atul plays the role of Ramesh Dholakia, a responsible son of Mansukhlal and Hemlata Dholakia, who is always looking out for everyone’s best interests.

The actor said, “I always look forward to working with the new generation of actors, writers, directors and technicians. And I just loved that part of my time on the sets of ‘Happy Family’. The new generation is very empowered today. Information and freedom has given them a lot of confidence. And that’s a great thing. They respect people for who they are, more than just for their age. That’s why I always say that they have an equality complex.”

Prime Video, today, announced the global premiere of its family comedy, the Amazon Original series Happy Family: Conditions Apply, with the launch of its quirky, uproarious trailer. The series features an ensemble of established and young actors, such as Raj Babbar, Ratna Pathak Shah, Atul Kulkarni, and Ayesha Jhulka, along with Raunaq Kamdar, Meenal Sahu, Sanah Kapur, and Ahaan Saboo.

Created and directed by Aatish Kapadia and Jd Majethia, and produced under the banner of Hats Off Productions, Happy Family: Conditions Apply will be an episodic release. The first four episodes will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on March 10, with 2 episodes releasing every Friday until March 31.

10 minutes into the film, and I was convinced this was Slumdog Millionaire on a skating board in Rajasthan. Then 45 minutes later something magical happened. She is called Waheeda Rehman. I don’t know how or where this enchantress, now in the winter of her life, showed up as a doppelganger of Gayatri Devi, telling us why she would fund a skatepark in Rajasthan. We appreciate.

I was half-way converted, though acutely embarrassed by the turgid benign-gora-log-inspiring-and-enlightening-brownfaced-kids subtext of the drama. There is a village in Rajashthan called Khempur where the scruffy kids in torn shorts and fading school uniforms get a chance to dream , when a pretty half-British-half-Indian full-on Mother Teresa reincarnation shows up, all muddy and weather beaten but full of beans.

Jessica(Amy/Amrita Maghera) shows up like a dimestore Florid Florence Nightingale.
