In 1999, he won third place at the World Military Games in Zagreb, Croatia. Lost in the semifinals to Russian Aleksandr Lebzyak.

In 2001, Uzelkov became third at the World Championships in Belfast (Northern Ireland), losing in the semifinals to the British, David Haye.
