Stephanie Alexander AO is a highly influential and revered Australian chef, restaurateur, food writer, and food educator. She has been a transformative figure in Australian culinary culture for over five decades. Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) is arguably her most significant and enduring legacy. She founded the not-for-profit organization in 2004, born from her belief that children learn about food early in life through example and positive experiences. The Kitchen Garden Program aims to introduce "pleasurable food education" to children and young people. In participating schools and early childhood services, children spend time in a productive vegetable garden and a home-style kitchen each week, learning to grow, harvest, prepare, and share fresh, seasonal food.
