The cumulative total gross of Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback in Japan has exceeded a milestone of 10 billion yen in 19 days since its release on April 18. The official website for the 28th feature film in the Detective Conan/Case Closed anime franchise announced today that it had earned 10.4 billion yen (72.66 million Usd) on 7.26 million admissions in 19 days by May 6. Following the 26th film Black Iron Submarine in 2023 and the 27th film The Million-dollar Pentagram in 2024, One-eyed Flashback has become the third consecutive film in the Conan franchise to surpass the 10 billion yen mark at the Japanese box office. Black Iron Submarine earned 10.3 billion yen (72.02 million Usd) in its first 24 days, while The Million-dollar Pentagram made 10.5 billion yen (73.39 million Usd) in its first 22 days. And a celebratory illustration from the Detective Conan manga's original author, Gosho Aoyama , has also arrived. Additionally, Toho Movie's official YouTube channel has posted a special video featuring the film's theme song "Twilight!

Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback is the 28th Detective Conan movie, and we have been reporting on how well the movie has been doing in Japan since its April 18, 2025 premiere.

On April 18, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback , the 28th feature film in the Detective Conan/Case Closed anime franchise, opened in a total of 522 theaters across Japan, which was the largest number in the history of the franchise. In addition to the regular schedule, the film had its world's fastest screenings at 23 theaters in 10 prefectures from midnight on the first day of its release. The film series' official X (formerly Twitter) confirmed today that the film earned 1.05 billion yen (7.39 million Usd) on 690,000 admissions on its opening day in Japan. The official website for Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback , the upcoming 28th feature film in the Detective Conan/Case Closed anime franchise, announced today that the film will also screen simultaneously in 55 IMAX theaters, 12 MX4D theaters, 62 4Dx theaters, and 9 Dolby Cinema theaters on April 18, the day of the film's nationwide release. Combined with the regular version, the film will screen in a total of 522 theaters in Japan, which is the largest number in the history of the Detective Conan anime franchise. The official website for Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback recently dropped a new trailer and visual for the film. The trailer focuses on Kogoro’s investigation and the film’s setting in the Nagano mountains, known for its snowy landscapes.

The latest movie, which will be the 28th in the Detective Conan series, is set to hit Japanese theaters on April 18, 2025. The visual shows Conan on a snowboard, with Yamato, a Nagano inspector with a wounded left eye, and Kogoro, who’s making a comeback after being featured heavily in the 9th movie in 2005.

The new poster also introduces Taka’aki and Yui, who are both from the Nagano area.

Katsuya Shigehara, known for his work as the unit director on Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine, is directing this film. Takeharu Sakurai, who has worked on several Detective Conan movies, is writing the script.

In honor of the upcoming film Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback , the long-running anime series will be collaborating with Tokyo Skytree for a three-month-long event this April. Food, photo ops, gifts and more are on the docket for the special event! Titled Detective Conan x Tokyo Skytree: The Sparkling Blue Sky Tower , the event is already kicking things off with special artwork of the show's main characters decked out in shades of blue (seen above). Following the announcement of Detective Conan‘s 28th anime film, titled Detective Conan: Sekigan no Flashback (One-eyed Flashback), earlier this week, the film’s official website unveiled its very first trailer on Dec 4, 2024.

The film will feature characters Kogoro Mori, known as “The Sleeping Mysterious Detective,” and Yamato Gansuke, “The One-Eyed Detective.” It is set in the snowy mountains of Nagano Prefecture, according to the official website.

It is being produced by Tms Entertainment, with a new creative team taking the reins:

Anime and manga fans will know that Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) is one of the longest franchises in history. The film will feature characters Kogoro Mori, known as “The Sleeping Mysterious Detective,” and Yamato Gansuke, “The One-Eyed Detective.” It is set in the snowy mountains of Nagano Prefecture, according to the official website.

I’ll come right out and say it: Takashi Miike’s Ace Attorney, based on the first entry of the popular Capcom video game series, is the single-best cinematic adaptation of a video game property of all time. Now some of the more snide readers out there will no doubt think that this a pretty low bar to clear. There’s at least a partial truth to that: the current all-time champion of video game (henceforth Vg) movie critical acclaim is 2001’s Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, coming in at a cool 44% on Rotten Tomatoes (not that the Rt metric is reflective of quality in any capacity, but that’s another discussion for another time). Eiga.com is reporting that a new spin-off movie of the popular Aibou (Partners) series titled Aibou Series: X Day is in the works.

In 2009, Partners supporting character Mamoru Yonezawa (Seiji Rokkaku) got his own spin-off movie titled Partners: CSI Files. X Day will feature Metropolitan Police Department criminal investigator Kenichi Itami (Kazuhisa Kawahara) and cyber crime specialist Akira Iwatsuki (Kei Tanaka) in a brand new partnership.

In 2008, the first Partners movie, starring Yutaka Mizutani and Yasufumi Terawaki, built on the success of TV Asahi’s long-running TV drama by earning 4.44 billion yen at the box office.

In 2010, Mitsuhiro Oikawa teamed up with Mizutani for Partners: The Movie II which earned 3.17 billion yen.

Series 10 of the drama ended in March, and marked the end of Oikawa’s run.

The new movie will be directed by Hajime Hashimoto with a screenplay by Takeharu Sakurai, both of whom work on the TV drama.
