In the pantheon of cool horror movie locations, the bowling alley is an overlooked gem. Unsurprisingly, the tendency to feature a disembodied body part being flung down the lane means that such films are frequently horror comedies.

Last Night at Terrace Lanes adopts a slasher approach (see: Gutterballs – or don’t), but maintains a humorous tone. The film, from director Jamie Nash and written by YA horror author Adam Cesare (working from a story by Jenna St. John), has a great logline: what if a killer cult attacked a bowling alley?

Sadly, the finished product struggles with its execution, leading to a decidedly mixed comedy slasher.

If, like me, you're always on the lookout for new nightmares written by Adam Cesare, then 2024 is already looking scary good, because in addition to the upcoming Clown in a Cornfield 3: The Church of Frendo, Cesare has written the new horror movie Last Night at Terrace Lanes (from a story by Jenna St. John). Pitting bowlers against a bloodthirsty brigade of masked cult members, Last Night at Terrace Lanes will be released on VOD beginning January 16th from Dread, and we have a look at the trailer ahead of its forthcoming release!

Directed by Jonathan Zuck, who also wrote the screenplay with Joe Leone and Jenna St. John, Meant to Be Broken has the following synopsis: Harvey has led a cautious and conscientious life until he gets fired and finds out he has one month to live. Throwing caution to the wind, he meets Luke at a bar and confesses he’s never broken any rules. Luke responds “Do you want to?,” and so the quest begins.

Is this Groundhog Day? Not exactly. The 2009 short film Over and Over Qualified will entertain you. Director Francis Abbey brings a unique look to Mark who has lost everything. A visit from Mark’s friend Tina almost drives Mark to insanity. Actor John Tweel portrayal of Mark Shapiro is what you expect from someone who has lost a home, wife and job. His irritated facial expressions when dealing with the perky Tina are very funny. Actress Jenna St. John is hilarious as the over zealous / perky co-worker of Mark. You are able to see that Tina looks at Mark as a role model when she refers...
