Exclusive: CAA has signed actor Jon Huertas for representation. The actor currently stars as Miguel on NBC’s Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning family drama This Is Us, which recently had its fall finale and received a three-season renewal earlier this year that would take it through season six.

In addition to This Is Us, Huertas credits include his role on Castle as Detective and Army veteran Javier Esposito. He starred on the ABC series for eight seasons. He also appeared in David Simon’s Generation Kill as Sgt. Tony “Poke” Espera. The HBO miniseries shed a unique and streetwise perspective of the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The character hit close to home for Huertas, who is a veteran himself.

Huertas and fellow collaborator Kenny Stevenson recently launched the production shingle WestSide Stories and will continue to develop content for television and film.

Dating is difficult, especially in our technologically-driven society. Missed Connections, directed by Eric Kissack and written by Kenny Stevenson, is a romantic comedy focused on “chance” encounters. Neal (Kenny Stevenson) is not in the best place in life. His girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend; he works in soul-sucking customer service job; and his friends can’t even be bothered to show up to his birthday dinner. His friends, Barry and George, however, have decided to give Neal the greatest gift of all. They have devised a plan to get Neal laid.

Playback Trailer. Michael A. Nickles‘ Playback (2012) movie trailer stars Christian Slater, Ambyr Childers, Johnny Pacar, Jonathan Keltz, and Alessandra Torresani. Playback‘s plot synopsis: “A cop investigates the case of a missing local teen, though he discovers a dark secret that has been unleashed in his town, and an evil spirit that will stop at nothing to find its heir.”

The possession sequences and the way Julian (Johnny Pacar) starts going after people, building a small army of the possessed is pretty cool.

Playback also stars Toby Hemingway, Jennifer Missoni, Daryl Mitchell, Kenny Stevenson, Abe Larkin, Dorien Davies, and Luke Bonczyk.

SpaceShank Media’s Alec McNayr and Bob Gustafson (who also created acclaimed Flipper Nation) recently launched their hilarious new web series, My Roommate the Cylon. Giving much respect and salute to the sci-fi series, this comedy spin-off revolves around the story of three roommates Bennett Jacobs (played by Alex Enriquez), Pjeter Odama (Tyson Turrou) and Dale McKinney (Kenny Stevenson). The catch? Well, after receiving a letter from a mysterious sender, one of these guys apparently had a skinjob—nothing gross or raunchy, it just means that one of them could potentially be a Cylon who wants to eradicate the human civilization.

In three weeks a healthy segment of nerd-dom (self included) will witness the closing chapter of an epic five-year saga. The Ronald D. Moore (of Star Trek repute) re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica is set to end, leaving a galactic void (zing!) previously occupied by the humans/cylon struggle for survival in the emptiness of space. Now that we won’t have Commander Adama, Colonel Tigh, or Starbuck for drinking buddies I’m going to have to find new excuses for why I can’t do whatever it is regular people have been doing on Friday nights. Two fans with more foresight than I got a head start on a project perfect for those BSG devotees with a lot of soon-to-be free time.
