After years of taking public transport and carpooling, Rose learned to drive at 23 years old. Her now husband, Ricky, taught her.

Rose's daddy, a huge movie fan, wanted to name his first (and only) daughter Ava in honor of Ava Gardener, actress whom he adored. He was torn between the names Ava or Rose (after his beloved Grandmother Rose), and for a while he considered Ava Rose, but he finally settled on Rose Julianna.

Even though she's always enjoyed playing sports, Rose was never involved in teams growing up. As an adult, Rose joined her first sports team, playing softball in Atlanta's Southern Soft Paw League.

During her college years and while preparing to become a teacher, Rose became interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL), because she wanted to be able to communicate with any deaf/hard of hearing students that might be part of her class. She took several courses to learn ASL and to this day remains practicing. Furthermore, she believes in the inclusion of this community in our industry.
