Superboys of Malegaon is a poignant tale of filmmaking and friendship. The movie within a movie takes inspiration from the real-life story of Nasir Sheikh, an amateur filmmaker from the small town of Malegaon. The town’s residents look to Bollywood for a much-needed escape, and Nasir wants to make Bollywood-inspired films for the people of Malegaon, by the people of Malegaon.

The first edition of Amazon Mx Player’s StreamNext event in India unveiled a slate of over 100 new shows set to launch this year.

Amogh Dusad, Head of Content at the platform, unveiled a lineup which included 40 new Hindi originals, as well as returning seasons of popular local shows like Aashram, Hunter, Jamnapaar, Half CA, Hip Hop India, Sixer, Who’s your Gynac and Playground.

The platform will launch reality show Rise and Fall from Banijay Asia, featuring Ashneer Grover and produced by Deepak Dhar. Billed as an “international show format”, Rise and Fall will follow a group of contestants representing diverse sections of society, who all gather in an iconic skyscraper. They are split into two groups: Rulers and Workers, with a cash prize that starts at zero and only builds if work shift tasks, overseen by the Rulers, are successfully completed by the Workers.

In 2008, Faiza Ahmad Khan made a documentary, Supermen of Malegaon, that focused on the making of a parody-style movie by amateur director Nasir Shaikh, who found success with his friends in the poor small Indian city of Malegaon, where they used their hometown to copy popular movies, and by doing so gave new life and meaning to the place they were raised.

Now, director Reema Kagti and Shaikh have taken that inspirational true story, opened it up, and turned it into a new narrative theatrical film, Superboys of Malegaon, that shows how a group of friends cleverly turned a love for movies into a bit of a local sensation. The Amazon MGM Studios film had its world premiere Friday at the Toronto Film Festival before a European premiere next month at the BFI London Film Festival. The film opens in early 2025 in India, and later North America.

Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal, who was recently seen in ‘The Great Indian Family’, is gearing up for his next release ‘Sam Bahadur’ as he shared a new poster from the film on Thursday. The poster, shared ahead of the film’s teaser launch on Friday, shows Vicky’s titular character of the former Army chief, Sam Manekshaw, standing in an open field in a deep thought with his back facing the camera. The golden hour and the sun peeking from the horizon make the shot a compelling one.

The text on the poster reads: “Zindagi unki, itihaas humara.” Sharing the picture on his Instagram, Vicky wrote in the caption: “To a life well lived.”

Sam Manekshaw, an Indian war hero, was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. He became the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

Actor Vicky Kaushal, who will be seen essaying the role in ‘Sam Bahadur’ in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming directorial, shared a picture posing with Sam Manekshaw’s statue.

‘Sam Bahadur’ is a biopic based on the life and times of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, based on the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, and his career in the Indian Army over four decades and multiple wars.

Vicky took to Instagram to share the picture where he is seen dressed in a black hoodie, a baseball cap and black sunglasses.

For the caption, he wrote, “Sam.”

Mumbai, Dec 26 (Ians) Actress Bidita Bag returns on screen in the Ott series, The Missing Stone, her third digital show this year after Bhaukaal and Abhay 2. Bidita is happy with the visibility, though she says her steady flow of performances in the web domain is something that has been happening by chance over the past months.
