Hollywood has been betting on sequels for decades as they are almost always guaranteed hits, especially after the huge success of a first installment. However, the recipe doesn't always work.

In 2006, two-time Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington starred in Spike Lee's successful, star-studded movie Inside Man. It was a critical and commercial hit, and over a decade later, Inside Out: Most Wanted was released. Although the sequel didn't make a splash, it achieved success on Netflix, debuting in second place in the global streaming charts, per Tudum.

Although this is not Inside Man: Most Wanted's first stint on Netflix, the movie was back in the charts for the week between May 5 and 11. It amassed 12.3 million views and 21.8 million hours viewed, debuting in second place just behind Vince Vaughn's new feel-good comedy Nonnas. The heist film entered the Top 10 in 69 countries, and became the number one film in 21 territories across the globe.

The 25th Woodstock Film Festival will feature a lineup of world, North American and U.S. premieres, joining acclaimed fiction and nonfiction films from Sean Baker, Steve McQueen, Alexis Bloom, Raoul Peck, Marielle Heller, Jesse Eisenberg, Jacques Audiard and many more.

The festival, which runs from October 15-20 in the Hudson Valley towns of Woodstock, Rosendale, Kingston and Saugerties, will see writer-director Paul Schrader receive the Honorary Maverick Award. His latest, Oh, Canada, starring Richard Gere, Uma Thurman and Jacob Elordi, will screen at Woodstock. There have been a few misses in the franchise, let’s not talk about the Cold Day in Hell film, but overall, the franchise has been a fun, light-hearted series that is propped up by Michael Gross’ character of Burt Gummer. While Tremors: Shrieker Island may be the finale to the franchise, it also lays the groundwork for a new direction for the series, if the demand is there.

This time, Michael Gross is once again back as the gun-loving Burt Gummer for another round with the deadly Graboids. As we can see from the trailer, Burt will have his hands full, not only with the return of the Shriekers, but with some people who don't fully grasp the threat they face. Tremors: Island Fury, or Tremors: Shrieker Island as it’s now titled, is set for a direct-to-video release this October and to whet our appetites, we’ve now got the first official trailer for the next entry in the beloved series, which teases more of the same crazy fun that we’ve come to expect from Tremors.

Shrieker Island is the seventh movie instalment in the franchise and is set on an island resort. This time around, though, the Graboid invasion will come as a result of a rich playboy transporting the creatures off the mainland in order to host a trophy hunt. Of course, that sounds like a pretty terrible idea and it isn’t long before things go wrong, leading to the legendary Burt Gummer being called in for help.

The upcoming sequel in the long-running franchise has finished filming and is currently in post-production. Despite the current production shutdown in Hollywood, according to star Michael Gross, the latest installment is on track to arrive sometime in October.

Michael Gross, who has played Burt Gummer in the franchise ever since the first Tremors hit theaters in 1990, will be back once again as the gun-toting Graboid hunter in what is officially titled Tremors: Island Fury. Gross recently appeared on an episode of the Saved By Nostalgia podcast and was asked about the status of the project. Here's what he had to say about it.

That's a wrap! Star Michael Gross has revealed that Tremors 7 has finished filming. The seventh installment of the long-running creature-filled franchise had been shooting in Thailand but now it's in the books, which means we're poised to see some new Graboid action coming our way in 2020. In addition to revealing that filming has wrapped up, Gross also shared a final set photo.

Michael Gross shared the update to his Facebook page. The photo features the actor, who plays the gun-loving Burt Gummer, a role he's played since the original was released in 1990. The photo sees Gross gathered together with many of his fellow cast members, including Napoleon Dynamite star Jon Heder, who is getting in on the action this time around. Gross shared the photo with the following caption.

The seventh film in the cult classic Tremors series Tremors: Island Fury began filming in Thailand last week. And to celebrate the beginning of principal photography, the official Tremors Instagram page shared a fun video intro with Gross looking like a homeless Santa Clause. And before you say anything, I know what you're thinking. Is that Napoleon Dynamite and Flaca from Orange Is the New Black hanging out with the South Bend Shovel Slayer on vacation? Production on Tremors 7 is currently underway. Burt Gummer actor Michael Gross has shared the first look at the highly anticipated sequel. Gross posted a picture of himself on social media with the caption, "Burt Gummer as you've never seen him before." And as Gross shows, it really is an entirely brand-new look for the character and one that will have long-time fans scratching their heads, or possibly even their chins. Gummer is going to be sporting a new white beard, looking like a mall version of Santa, which isn't really a new look for Gross.

Tremors 7 is reportedly being called Tremors: Island Fury. We have yet to receive confirmation on that, but it appears to at least be the working title for the sequel. With a new look for Michael Gross in the sequel, fans may be getting flashbacks to 2015 when the actor took part in the TV movie Becoming Santa.

The film is said to be titled Tremors: Island Fury and it will focus on rich people who are hunting Graboids on an island. The brief plot summary reads, “The deadly Graboids are back, illegally brought in to a new island resort by a rich playboy looking for a trophy hunt.”

Sounds like it’ll be another wild and fun Tremors movie! The script for the film was written by Brian Brightly and Universal Home Entertainment regular Don Michael Paul will return to direct. Michael Gross, who has played Burt Gummer in six films and a TV series since 1990, will return for this new film.

Extraordinary Entertainment, the Chinese company recently launched by Beijing-based Renny Harlin and DJ Parmar, has set a three-film deal with India’s B4U. The deal was unveiled on the sidelines of the Shanghai International Film Festival.

The deal between the two is described as a co-development agreement. Details on financing and distribution were not disclosed.

The first film is “Operation Wild,” a large-scale action adventure written by Brian Brightly, with Harlin set to direct. The film will co-star prominent Indian and Chinese actors, currently not identified. The story involves two elite combat warriors from China and India who lead covert forces to shut down a global wildlife-poaching criminal organization.

B4U is a leading Indian entertainment company which operates Bollywood movie and music channels in over 100 countries. It releases 10 to 15 movies per year, including recent titles “Queen,” “Airlift” and “Kaabil.”
