The upcoming series “Welcome to Derry” is taking us back to where it all began this coming Fall, with HBO unleashing the official teaser trailer for the It prequel series this morning.

The nine episode HBO series will serve as a prequel to Stephen King’s horror classic, and yes, Bill Skarsgård will be making his return as the iconic villain Pennywise the Clown.

“Welcome to Derry” is being positioned as a true continuation of Andy Muschietti’s It movies, telling a brand new story that’s been pulled from the pages of King’s classic novel.

Andy Muschietti will direct multiple episodes of the original series.

When last we saw Emilio Estevez, he was serving a hilariously tiny, get-the-f***-out-of-my-house bottle of water to his "St. Elmo's Fire" co-star Andrew McCarthy in the latter's cringy-fascinating documentary "Brats." Estevez can be a refreshingly candid interview subject, but judging from the tensed shoulders and the unblinking death stare he had fixed on McCarthy, he did not appear to be in the mood to take a stroll down Brat Pack memory road that day.

Why was Estevez so on edge? McCarthy's antsy demeanor and scattered line of questioning made it fairly plain this project should've never made it outside of his therapist's office. I would've given him the short water treatment, too. But perhaps something else was eating at Estevez.

While Emilio Estevez silently stepped away from the spotlight, he started working more behind the camera in both writing and directing duties, while throwing in some acting duties along the way. However, Estevez would step back into his iconic Hockey coach role with the Disney+ legacy series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers back in 2021. The series ended just a year later, but Emilio felt the need to do right by the franchise and revealed he had written a script for a fourth Mighty Ducks entry.

Estevez recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz, where he expounded, “I also wrote Mighty Ducks 4 because I wanted to make up for all of the disasters that happened on the Game Changers series. Since the days of classics like Shane and Stagecoach, the Western genre has offered a blend of action and adventure, with 1993's Tombstone standing out as a modern icon. Directed by George P. These movies have proven every bit as influential and enduring as others, allowing for comedy and levity in a way lone gunfighter movies don't.

Team-up Westerns have brought the genre some of its best ensemble casts, with stars like Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, and Charlie Sheen stepping into the role of gunslinger. While these movies don't always receive the box office success they deserve, they have brought a unique dynamic and sense of adventure to the genre. Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is back. Almost two years after its Season 1 finale aired, Mayfair Witches returns today on AMC and AMC+ with its Season 2 premiere.

Original "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" scribes Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson are almost extensions of their characters. They've written all three movies in the series, maintaining their close friendship for over forty years. From the script's first draft, the idea was less about a time-traveling history lesson and more about making a buddy movie with two lovable rockers. The SoCal duo, known as the Wyld Stallyns, didn't necessarily have to go on a grand adventure through time to be compelling. Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) wandering around the quiet suburban streets of San Dimas, California, jamming guitar and hanging out at the Circle K could've been a great mumblecore movie all on its own. 

The same could be said for "Back to the Future." When Marty McFly plugs into that Gibson Ga-5T and sends himself flying through the air in a sonic blast, he already seems like your new best friend.

Wow, a ‘new’ Sam Peckinpah western! While we await the rumored Blu-ray of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid to surface (or was Alex Cox misinformed?), correspondent Darren Gross has come across a watchable web encoding of a Peckinpah TV drama that seems to be more or less ‘lost.’ Good star performances and intense characterizations prove once again that Peckinpah could deliver superior dramatics. The home video companies should do some investigating — there’s a market out there for this one.

Barry Keoghan has been set to play Billy the Kid in an upcoming biopic set to retell the notorious criminal’s story.

The new telling of his story will lean into Billy’s Irish ancestry and complicated childhood.

Born in New York as Henry McCarty, he was orphaned at the age of 15 when his mother died and his stepfather abandoned him. His first arrest for robbery came a year later, and by the time he was 18, he was wanted for murder after an altercation in Arizona. His notoriety escalated, and he was 21 when Sheriff Pat Garrett shot him to death.

Bart Layton, who directed Barry Keoghan in American Animals, is set to helm the Billy the Kid movie, which Element Pictures and Raw will produce with Film4. “We’ve seen many versions of Billy the Kid on screen before,” Keoghan said in a statement to Deadline. “My interest was in trying to tell a version that breaks from the facade of that cool, calm, and collected gunslinger Billy the Kid that we’re all used to seeing. I wanted to humanize him in a way.” Element Pictures producer Ed Guiney added, “This isn’t just a passion project for Barry. This approach is something new, and it’s a version of the tale we hope the world will want to see.

Legend has it that Billy the Kid shot and killed 21 men; one for each year of his life. The legendary outlaw's own life was taken sometime after midnight on July 14, 1881, by the reformed lawman Pat Garrett in Fort Sumner, New Mexico. There is still speculation that Garrett, a longtime acquaintance of Billy's (whose birth name was Henry McCarty) never actually shot down his old friend and allowed him to escape in the dark of night.

Garrett was also accused of ambushing McCarty, which led to him hiring a ghost writer named Marshall Upton who detailed Garrett's version in "The Authentic Life of Billy, the Kid." The book has become a great historical reference, but at the time of its release in 1882, it failed to change the popular opinion that Garrett may have acted ungentlemanly the night Billy the Kid was slain.

The 1990 song "Blaze of Glory" from the "Young Guns II" soundtrack is impossible to resist. I feel pretty confident in saying that, when you read the title of that song, it began playing in your head. In fact, you'll be singing it for the rest of the day, and if anyone else is around, they'll join in with the harmony. Maybe you, like a young version of me, watched the video repeatedly, admiring ... the music. I didn't mean the exceedingly good-looking Jon Bon Jovi himself. Okay, that's a lie, but the song really is pretty great. There is a reason it's performed at every karaoke bar, including the fictional one in the afterlife in "The Good Place."

Billy the Kid will square off against his oldest friend Jesse Evans and the corrupt powers of the Santa Fe Ring after MGM+ renewed the drama series for a second season.

The network, formerly known as Epix, is returning to the Wild West for a sophomore run of the series, which stars Tom Blyth as the eponymous character.

Inspired by the life of America’s most infamous outlaw, the show launched in April 2022.

It stars Daniel Webber as Evans as well as Eileen O’Higgins, Sean Owen Roberts, Dakota Daulby, Ryan Kennedy and Ian Tracey among its ensemble cast.

The series is produced by MGM+ Studios, formerly known as Epix Studios, and Amazon Studios: Pan-English Scripted TV, the rebranded division run by Rola Bauer, in association with Amblin Television and De Line Pictures.

It comes from creator and writer Michael Hirst, who exec produces alongside Donald De Line, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey.

MGM+, formerly Epix, unveiled its programming lineup and development slate that includes a new John Wells drama based on a Stephen L. Carter novel, a period drama about Harlem crime boss Stephanie St. Clair, based on an MGM movie, and a docuseries about the disco era.

The newly rebranded premium linear channel and streaming service will launch on January 15 in conjunction with the season three premiere of Godfather of Harlem starring and executive produced by Forest Whitaker and created by Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein.

The development slate includes scripted series The Emperor of Ocean Park, Hoodlum, based on the 1997 movie starring Laurence Fishburne, Tim Roth and Andy Garcia, Earth Abides, based on a George R. Rockstar Games has certainly helped revolutionize the open-world format through the western epic that was Red Dead Redemption II, and elsewhere with the seemingly endless (and most recent) re-releases of GTA V. But the western genre and "wild west" setting fills a particular niche that isn't explored too often.

The 2018 sequel has debatably become the most well-received and popular of its time, but there are other noteworthy titles from years past. Metacritic has ranked the best in this particular setting, from the cult-classic Oddworld series to even the Jrpg Wild Arms​.

The Call of Juarez games had a short-lived run from the mid-2000s to the early 2010s, but they managed a couple of solid entries. Gunslinger was the latest release, putting the wild-west setting in a first-person shooter wrapping.

Dolly Parton is adding to her repertoire of children’s literature.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is teaming up with Penguin Young Readers to release her children’s picture book Billy the Kid Makes it Big. It’s set to be illustrated by MacKenzie Haley.

The story features her god-dog Billy the Kid as the protagonist, “a dog who loves barking to the beat of country music and sets out to make it big as a country music star in Nashville”. Billy encounters bullies at the Battle of the Bow-wows and must rely on his friends and the power of his favourite song to regain his confidence.

Plot: A vampire slayer targets billionaire bloodsuckers who have lured a group of social media influencers to their remote compound.

Review: Just one month after the theatrical and VOD release of the thriller Dig, which was directed by K. Asher Levin and starred Thomas Jane, we’re getting the theatrical and VOD release of another Levin / Jane collaboration… and this one is quite different from their previous one. The new(er) movie is a horror comedy called Slayers, which finds Jane taking on the role of experienced vampire slayer Elliot Jones. The narration from Jones informs us that vampires have existed since the dawn of time – and humans have been secretly warring against them for thousands of centuries. While Jones has been in the slayer game for a couple decades at this point, he’s just one of the latest slayers in a long line of them, including some major historical figures.

Paul Newman had a storied career -- spanning the '50s-era studio films through New Hollywood and into the modern era. The man even appeared in a Pixar film! Toward the end of his life, Barbara Walters asked Newman what he imagined his epitaph would be. "That I was part of my times," the actor replied. He was that, but he was also a man who could adapt to whatever a film required with Hollywood charm and sparkling eyes. Ethan Hawke, who directed the docuseries "The Last Movie Stars" about Newman and his decades-long relationship with Joanne Woodward, had some thoughts on his marriage of charisma and talent. Hawke told A.Frame, "They weren't movie stars; they were actors!... I realized they're the last people where being an actor was what it took to be a movie star."

Howard Hughes's deliriously ahistorical "The Outlaw" is probably best known for star Jane Russell's brassiere, which the director painstakingly designed to accentuate her 38Dd bosom. Never mind that Russell claimed she wore it all of a few minutes, loathed the fit, and padded her own bra the old-fashioned way; the undergarment is still on display in a Hollywood museum -- the, er, stuff of showbiz legend.

The film itself is an agreeably campy Western. Doc Holliday (Walter Huston) rides into Lincoln, New Mexico looking to recover his stolen horses. He tells his friend Pat Garrett (Thomas Mitchell) that Billy the Kid (Jack Buetel) is the thief, which sets up a not-terribly-understated homoerotic love triangle. It's a goofy movie that should be a lot more fun than it is, but its script by Jules Furthman boasts some nifty flourishes, one of which finds the sharp-shooting Holliday trying to goad...

Clu Gulager, a veteran actor known for his starring roles in ’60s Westerns such as The Tall Man and The Virginian, has died of natural causes. He was 93.

The news was confirmed by the actor’s son on Facebook, in addition to a statement released by his daughter-in-law Diane Goldner. She said the actor was “surrounded by his loving family” at the time of his death.
