- Lost her twin sister, Margaret Howell, on July 26, 2000 in Los Angeles, California, USA. She died of ovarian cancer. They both worked together in Scarecrow in a Garden of Cucumbers (1972) and in one episode of Tales from the Crypt (TV Series).

- Two of her films, Chrystal (2004) and The Assassination of Richard Nixon (2004) screened the same year at the AFI Film Festival in Los Angeles.
- Theatre Companies Kathryn has performed with include: Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center, La Mama ETC, Berkeley Stage Company, San Francisco Rep, San Jose Stage Company, Magic Theatre, Eureka Theatre, Mason Street Theatre, Eastenders, Gumption Theatre, Carolina Playmakers.
- Was hired by George Lucas to read the role of Shmi in the screen test for three finalists for role of Anakin in स्टार वॉर्स: पहला भाग - अनदेखा खतरा (1999).
- Was in two films with John Heard, the made-for-television movie, Necessity (1988) and Richard Donner's Radio Flyer (1992) (deleted scenes.).
- Had her first paid acting job as a teenager in the Outdoor Drama "Unto These Hills" in Cherokee, NC.
- Played Miss Mabel, a backwoods psychic in Ray McKinnon's film Chrystal (2004) which was nominated for Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
