Eduard Hoesch was only seldom behind the camera after the war, to his last cinematical works belong "Der grosse Fall" (1949).

The cinematographer Eduard Hoesch belongs to the Austrian firm pioneers whose career as a cinematographer already began in 1908 in collaboration with the director Felix Dörmann.

The 30's marked a new chapter in the film history and the sound changed the environment enduringly. Those years also belongs to the most busy years of Eduard Hoesch who took part at numerous well-known productions.

During the turbulent years of World War II he was able to continue his career and was engaged again for several movies.

In 1917 he was appointed to the personal cinematographer of emperor Karl and he filmed him for several propaganda movies in order to encourage the morale of the troops.

Eduard Hoesch became a constant film worker of the Austrian film business from the 20's und was part of countless productions in the next years.

He founded his own production company "Donau Filmproduktion Eduard Hoesch" and realised the first Austrian movie called "Der weite Weg" (1946) as a director.

Besides his activity as a cinematographer he was also active as a producer, especially in the 50's after his career as a director of photography.

During World War I he operated as a war correspondent.
