Has four children: a son Stepan Baranov (b. November 1, 1986) with her now late ex-first husband Vyacheslav Baranov; a son Nikolay Efremov (b. August 16, 1991) with her ex-second husband Mikhail Efremov; a son Yan Boyko (b. July 19, 2002) with her ex-boyfriend Yaroslav Boyko; a daughter Anastasiya Manannikova (b. February 6, 2009) with her third husband Dmitriy Manannikov.

Dobrovolskaya is also known as a screen actress, having starred in more than 100 films and TV series.

She played her first role at the Moscow Art Theatre in the play "The Seagull" based on Chekhov's play (Nina Zarechnaya).

In 1987, she graduated from GITIS (course of Lyudmila Kasatkina and Sergei Kolosov).

She made her debut in the movies in 1983 in the Pavel Chukhrai film Cage for Canaries.

In 2014, she took part in an advertising campaign for absorbent underwear, Depend.

In 1989-1991 she was an actress of the Sovremennik-2 Theater Studio (created on the basis of the graduating class of the Moscow Art Theater School under the direction of Mikhail Efremov), and she has been since 1991 an actress of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater .

She was a laureate of the Nika Award (2001 and received Golden Eagle Award (2007).
