Fourth cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln, the wife of President Abraham Lincoln.

Claims she had little interest in being an actress and was prodded into an acting career by her grandparents, who hoped she could become another Shirley Temple.

After she quit acting, she finished a master's degree in music history at the University of California at Berkeley that she had initially begun at the University of California, Los Angeles. She has lived in the Northern California area ever since.

A life-long lover of classical music, as a teenager she used to usher for concert events including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl.

A mother of two, she was married for 38 years and is now widowed.
