- An avid runner and mountain climber/hiker who often took off on solo adventures, Sands disappeared on January 13, 2023, after he went for a hike near the Mouny Baldy area of California's San Bernardino Mountains. Local authorities and search and rescue teams conducted over six weeks of multiple ground and aerial searches, which were unsuccessful. On June 24, 2023, hikers near Mount Baldy discovered human remains. On June 27, 2023, local authorities confirmed the remains to be those of Julian Sands.
