Sometimes mistaken for the singer/actress who appeared as a regular on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour (1967) in the 1960s. That performer, who was billed on that series and on her recordings as "Jennifer" and sometimes as "Jennifer Warren" (and whose real name is Jennifer Warnes), returned to her legal name for professional use to avoid the conflict of identical names.

Her first short film "Point of Departure" won the Cine Golden Eagle Award and Best Drama at Aspen Film Festival.

She studied drama at HB Studio in Greenwich Village in New York City.

Was a founding member of the Alliance of Women Directors.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin.

Prior to acting in movies, she put in ten year's worth of stage work, often appearing with the Tyrone Guthrie theater group in Minneapolis.

Listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1975" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 27.

She also won the Theatre World Award for "6 Rms. Riv. Vu" in 1970. She starred opposite Jerry Orbach.

As an actress, she won the Film World Award for Night Moves (1975) in 1975.

Her film, The Beans of Egypt, Maine (1994), won Best Pick at the Seattle and Boston Film Festivals.
