Pictured with Don Miller, Elmer Layden, and Jim Crowley on one of fifteen 32¢ US commemorative postage stamps in the "Celebrate the Century" series, issued 28 May 1998, celebrating the 1920s. Together they were known as the "Four Horsemen of Notre Dame".

Elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1958.

Played in one game in the National Football League, as a tailback with the Brooklyn Lions in 1926, their only season in the league.

Inducted into the Madison (Wisconsin) Sports Hall of Fame in 1966.
